After speaking with Dr. G. on several occasions regarding Opti-Coating, I decided to test it out on my own car. I can say that the reviews on this product are 100% accurate and this product is everything it is cracked up to be – and more! After using Opti-Coating on both light and dark colors I’ve decided that I really don’t have a need for any other wax or sealant. Nothing that I’ve used in the past even comes close to this product and I am thrilled with the results.

Below are some photos of my father’s truck which is a 2003 and has 140k miles. This was my first experience using the coating on a dark colored vehicle. The polishes used were Optimum’s Sprayable Hyper Polish and Menzerna PO85RD. The Hyper polish worked extremely well with LC’s Tangerine Hydro-Tech pads as well as with the standard white polishing pads. After that I cleaned the finish several times with IPA and applied the coating. After inspecting each panel several times during the process, I was able to achieve a perfect application with no smearing or high spots, and only 5-6 ccs were used to coat the entire truck (not including plastics). Please excuse the factory orange peel.

Looks good, I am thinking of picking up one of the three when it gets warmer...what did you think of the application?

Looks good and glad to see it is working out for you. just sucks that some of us are not able to use it but I suppose they have their reasons.

The application isn't too bad at all - it is very similar to Opti-Seal except that you need to buff down any high spots within about 15-20 mins.

I did the wheels on my car and it works great on releasing brake dust. Since I didn't have time to pull the wheels off on the truck I decided to wait to coat them until I can get the barrels as well.

  7. I recently crashed my Altima and got a repaint, but prior to that I had OptiCoat on there for over 3 years and it still beaded like after the first wash. I added new rims after the crash and took the opportunity to OptiCoat the whole rim before installation. It makes me wish all cars had the coating (at least on the rims) because you can just mist and wipe them and EVERYTHING comes right off. Application is extremely easy and even if you miss buffing off a high spot, you just hit it with a bit of polish, and reapply. I have to polish my car where the body shop left a few spots, but then I'm adding the coating again.

@Wss03: did you do all the glass and running boards too?

@Phil: What are you waiting for, you 've had it forever, LOL :poke:

I coated the glass and mirrors but not the running boards - they are going to be replaced after the winter.

My god that is a good looking truck. I would have never guessed it was that old and has that many miles.

No you can not buy the stuff. you need to contact Dr G and see if he gives you the green light. I was not fortunate enough to get the go ahead to order it. looks like others seem to love it. I know my customers would enjoy it but what can you do? for the people who can not attain it like me you might want to look at CQuartz as an option. it can be purchased .

Any updates on the consumer version? I was told it would be available later March.

Will the consumer version boast as good performance as the current version?

Your father's truck looks amazing! I have used both OC and CQ and I love them both. I just wish OC had a different delivery system. It would be awesome if it were in a bottle with a dropper insert like the CQ has. I find I have wasted product trying to get it out of the syringe. That's not a complaint of the product, just its delivery. I recently put it on my mother's Lexus so I will be able to keep an eye on it when she comes over once a week to watch my young daughter.
I am very interested to see what differences there will be between the OC and the consumer version thereof. It lasts so damned long that they could afford to give up some longevity of it if they had to in order to make it idiot proof for the general population. We'll see. And hopefully soon.

    Sweet!

When they say lifetime, how many years are we looking at? Is it possible to add another coat, say every year or so?
