I have a 32 oz. container of Poli-Seal I bought last year. I used it several times, but then left it alone in my cabinet until now. I was going to use it on my cousin's ride today, but the the product mix has separated and after extended vigorous shaking, it's remains separated. Has this happened to anyone else?

If you've tried shaking and transferring it to another container to shake and it still won't go back together, you can return it and Optimum will replace the unused portion. PM me for the contact info and address if you need to do a return.

My Optimum Protectant looks like the salad dressing oil/vinegar in the bottle, but a 20-30 second shake puts it back in solution. I've had BFWD separate a little with what appears to be water on top, that takes about a minute of shaking. I wish somebody would make a shaker for quart bottles or something for the "ketchup" 12 oz bottles like ADS sells as samples.

i think the reason why BFWD separates is cuz of the polycharging, but yeah glad to hear that if i get separation on OPT products it'll get fixed. But is this US only lol....

Chris .. what about rehydrating PoliSeal .. I had a 1/2 bottle and it thickened over a period of time making it just to thick to squeeze out of the bottle.

The original bottle will keep it airtight. If you need to transfer to a smaller squeeze bottle to use them...make sure it has a seal and that you use it. Polishes, Compounds, and Poliseal should last 2-3 years (and then it will just separate), but there are a lot of variables (temps being the most common cause of problems). They are pretty stable, but a controlled, consistent temp will make all your products last longer.

Overseas distributors should honor the warranty.

When thickening is the problem your lid isn't sealed and you can regain stability by adding 1-2 oz of OptiSeal.

I don' think thats true. Its due to the solvents involved. My menzerna power lock does the same thing- just takes longer to happen.

Thing is it is sealed ... its in the original container and all that is ever opened is the little spout. OptiSeal I don't have.

My 32oz bottle of Optimum Polish II that i've only used a couple times is the same. Literally like water, no amount of shaking will change, so it sits.

I have Hyper Polish also but it seems to still be creamy so I hope it stays that way.

Regarding OPS thickening, I called Optimum and was told that either the Opti-Seal trick would work or also that I could add about an ounce of mineral spirits to it to soften it up again. I didn't have OS so I used mineral spirits and it worked well, but now the PS has thickened up again. How much mineral spirits is too much before it causes an issue?

Happened to me, shook it hard but still separated. Also happened to some of my friends who did a gb on this particular item. At first we thought it was the non-original containers. Only lasted about 1 month after we divided the PS, mine lasted a bit longer in original container: 2 months. Guys at optimum were kind enough to offer replacement but it happened quite a while ago and the cost of international S&H back and forth does not make it worthwhile.

i don't fret when this happens...

i've had some Optimum products since 2008 and experienced no issues. one particular OG formula polish container was unused, but had been opened one or two times. the polish was SEVERELY separated. i shook it for several minutes, and nothing seemed to change. it looked like cottage cheese in iced down skim milk. so, i let it sit and worked on something in the garage. i came back, shook it some more...and suddenly the shaking changed. it stopped feeling like fluid in the bottle and deepened in tone. sure enough, it was now a nice homogenized cream again! i let it sit overnight and it was still creamy the next day.

the point of the story is don't give up if your product separates, especially if it hasn't seen freezing, etc. it just needs some shaking and some time, and some more shaking.
