Hey guys I have a 52" Phillips Projection TV and it needs an HD converter. How would I go about finding one for my tv? I've googled it and I can't make much sense of anything I read. I'm hoping some of you tech savvy guys can point me in the right direction. I know most would say buy a new tv, but this one was free and works flawlessly. But I'm hoping to buy a PS3 soon and want full benefits or as much as possible. Thanks
you're not gonna make it go HD, its a hardware limiting factor, you're stuck with 480SD what you're prob looking at is a down conversion from HD to Standard def. The definition of "Definition" is simply how many pixels you can stick onto the screen regardless of size. (ofcourse smaller screens with HD has higher pixel density thus in fact theyre more expensive)
Im blown away at the price drop of these TV's over the past year or so. Its not unheard of to pick up a 1080p 240hz of 50" or bigger for about $1000.
legacy tech like rear projectors are now just used for large screens as with plasmas as well. Awesome response rates for plasmas and stuff but they generate a shit ton of heat lol and rear projectors... well theyre big n cheap but their bulbs do burn out (with plasmas also potentially burning out but they have longer lifespan than the bulbs in the rear projectors). Pixel density also isnt really a biggy on big screens, its cheaper to do 1080p on say a 50" than a 32" simply due to the manufacturing process. The next big jump is probably full OLED displays thats cheap n big.
