he should be clubbed to death with bike parts by all the riders from that event! what a fucking piece of shit.
First of all, I'm an avid biker and I'm all for more rights to bikers on today's busy streets. In no way to I condone the behavior of this person, running over everyone with his Golf. I hope they find him and give him the proper punishment. On the other hand, Critical Mass riders need to stop pissing people off by just blocking entrances to roads and essentially blocking the road with all their bikes. This guy just went completely bananas and said F*CK IT and just floored it.
Im not condoning what he did, but Ive read about all the problems that Critical Masses causes. They actively bother motorists, just to bother motorists...goading someone to make a move. Well, someone made a move. They need to familiarize themselves with the saying "Dont poke the bear". Sure the guy was a nutjob. Apparently he has a history including, but not limited to, driving on the sidewalk. This comes back to the whole idea of personal responsibility. If you know someone has a temper, and you bother them until they get angry, then both of you are responsible for the outburst, since you could have prevented it. When it comes to protecting your own life and your families (I notice some of the riders had kids and dogs), dont tempt people to defeat you at that... Personally I see this as "a crazy nutjob hits a bunch of idiot antagonizers." Should it have happened? No. Would I do the same? No. Respecting life is always more important then winning an argument. Did alot of people see this coming? Certainly. There are better groups in LA to ride with, Bike Party SF being one of them. There are similar groups like these everywhere. Find a good one that cares more about cycling and staying safe then anything else.
Personally, I'm against cyclist having the right to sue the road. It causes traffic and it's more dangerous for them anyways. Think about it, what causes the most damage, a cyclist being hit by a car, or a pedestrian being snagged by a cyclist? Pretty obvious. With that said, marking my position on cyclists, I must say this guy went overboard with his actions. He should definitaly be hanged.
