Got a call to see what could be done to this truck. It has one of the worst paint jobs I have ever seen. There is so much trash in the paint I was afraid of using the rotary that it would burn off the tips. There was also overspray, runs and everything else you can imagine that would make a paint job suck.

    Wheels/Tires/Wells/:
All three pre-rinsed, tires got Zep Purple followed by AG CWC that I used on the wheels as well. There as some nasty tire dressing on there and the combo of the broke it up nicely. Scrubbed with a wheel brush.

Finally dressed with my signature tire dressing.

Wheels scrubbed with a SW Wheel brush and sponge.

Wells got Zep citrus and fender brush.

    Paint wash:
    Pre-rinse
Foamed up with a stripping formula
In the bucket I had the Sonax 2-n-1. Washed with a DI sheepskin mitt and SW brush

Truck was then pulled inside and clayed with AE medium clay with light ONR dilution.

It marred the crap out of the paint but made easy work of the over spray.

As polishing began, each panel received an IPA wipe down so I could get a better idea of what I was dealing with. And after some test I settled on:

    PC7424xp
    4" and 5.5" bp's
Mix of Powerfinish and Meg's 105
    Cyan Hydro pads

This combo was perfect and I achieved 90% or greater correction on all panels with a few various RIDS here and there.

After all correction work was done used IPA to ensure correction along with halogens, brinkman and fenix lighting.

    Did another wash.

    LSP:
Prima Amigo with black LC pad. After an hour I topped off with BFWD via gold lc pad and pc

Truck just looks old and paint has no flavor at all!

Thanks man, this truck has a cool story. Short end of it, it was the last build this guy got to do with his father before he died. I week before his death the truck was finally finished, and he got to take him on a cruise in it.

really nice save. its nice that it has a good story behind it....aside from the obvious passing of his father. im sure he was more than enthused with the outcome, especially given the sentimental value of the truck.

    Beautiful work, Michael !

It looked hopeless before and you turned it totally around to better than new !!!

I have never thought of mixing Megs 105 and Menz 0203S ! Great idea !

Im guessing that combination would be more aggressive than Menz SIP, right ?

Thanks for showing us the awesome work you did !

Thanks man, yea kept commenting on how great it looked. But only a few times, he really just kept staring at it, which sometimes words don't mean a lot, but their expression

Thanks Piet, yea they're out there!!

Dan, I've used the combo a few times... especially if it's a one step, i can control the amount of cut either by using more or less 105.

Very nice work, that mix of M105 and 203S did a great job. What is the ratios on your mixtures, if you dont mind sharing to a fellow Texan:)

Michael, great job recovering a POS paint job. It's difficult detaling bad paint b/c it tends to show off the faults even more. I enjoyed reading the story of the father and son work project and was happy to hear the father got to enjoy it before passing on.

Ya know with the exception of a lot of trash in the paint, the color tends to hit a lot of the flaws. But under the right light it's really noticeable.

In the end I was glad to be able to bring it to a finish he was pleased with, and that's what matters

    haha lol!! Thanks bro
