During this past month of January 2011, I had the priviledge of visiting Asia to detail a couple Porsches in Hong Kong. Prior to the trip, I had to stress over the little details such as downsizing my products to fit into my suitcases and getting the equipment to work in a different country (thumbs up to www.voltageconverters.com for coming through on such short notice!). While no stranger to performing on-site mobile jobs around town, detailing out of a suitcase in a foreign country is a whole other ballgame!

After all the stressing, I finally arrived in Hong Kong in the middle of January. After scoping out the cars and the detailing site, I was ready to get to work! I will let the pictures do the rest of the talking…

Space is limited in Hong Kong but at least there was a small space dedicated for car washing.

Started out by focusing on the small details.

The built up dirt around the emblems is going to take some work.

The brake dust around the lugs had etched into the paint.

Looking much better after some TLC.

With all the little details out of the way, it was time for a hand wash with a genuine sheep-skin mitt.

After drying, the defects in the paint were evident.

    Random scratching on front bumper.

Rear bumper had a very evident scratch that took off quite a bit of clear coat.

Swirls on all panels of the car.

    More swirling on rear fender.

The swirling on the doors were not as bad.

Taped off half the hood to test out the pad/polish combo for this car.

Buffing off the polish residue to inspect the work.

Rear panel by the decklid had some major swirls and scuffing.

After the first step of compounding before paint was refined. Right side done, left side untouched.

Switching to a smaller pad for the little areas.

After a full day of polishing, refining and the application of a sealant, the car was a ready for a washdown to remove all the polishing dust.

Car was then dried and it was time to check my work.

Paint is now showing more depth.

After finishing the little details on the second day, it was time for a photoshoot.

Reflections are much deeper than before.

As usual, I will end off with my favourite photo!

Thanks for the kind words guys!!

billyblooshoes: Isn't that what all detailers on here strive for? Thanks!

bryansbestwax: He should have since it's slow season here in Vancouver. I bet he would love the food even though he denies it :giggle:

kdude: Most of the changes in looks came during the polishing stages. Used the usual Scholl's + Menzerna combo for paint correction. Car was sealed with Power Lock.

corrswitch: I will post up pics of the other car I did soon. It was a 993 Turbo. I had to make a trip to Taiwan for business so I offered to detail these 2 cars in HK while visiting some friends.

cleanfiend: Thanks! Yes that is a Raceglaze mitt, good eye.

BrendanS: Thanks Brendan, everything went so smoothly without a hitch!
