I've never tried this so I hope to gain some insight from some of you guys. I was wondering if it were possible to switch a pad out mid polish to finish down better.

ex. Using Menz 203 on a green pad and switching to a blue pad once the polish had broken down a bit, and continue to burnish from thereon.

i have tried this method and seems to work better but not sure how much better result you gona get comparing if you used 85 with blue. im sure 85 would do better job. only way to tell is to do test panel and compare

To be completely honest I'm designing something so I don't want to give too much away. I'm gonna try this tomorrow and then try it with my idea.

So basically I have to take a panel and mark it off in 4 spots. Pad A with 203, Pad B with 203, Pad A then Pad B switched mid polish with 203, then my idea with 203. No real reason for 203, but it's claimed as a one stepper so I figured that's the best place to start.

Would you be applying more polish the finishing pad, getting it just damp enough, or just straight to the panel with what polish is left on the panel from the previous pad? I know you dont want to give too much away but just curious.

In the situation where I'd go from A to B, B could be primed with polish but I think I might just condition it and go from there, otherwise you're actually just doing another step.

It works great, I have been doing this for a long time

Thanks porta. What sort of pressure are you putting down? Same as the defect removal pad or very light to refine?

haha ok gotcha, yeah I was going to say a full on priming of pad B is just another step rather than a hybrid polishing step. Looking forward to the results.

Hopefully my buddy will bring his truck over tomorrow. Polishing in the snow, that's how we roll in NJ nowadays.

There was someone on AGO who did this with some pretty good results. I think it would yield good results as long as the polish isn't overly worked with the first pad. Good luck!

Less pressure and between 1500-1000 rpm.

Great to hear, thanks for the info porta. I made my prototype pad yesterday. It looks like rainman made it, I need to brush up on my construction skills hahah.

What kind of pad did you do?

Can't just yet, I need to test it first then provisional patent if it works out well, then more development.
