I got a Griot's Foam Gun for Christmas and finally had a chance to use it recently. The cost was $30. I got interested in trying this after I saw some Adam's reviews of a similar design. Adam's stopped selling theirs since some parts were made in China. Chemical Guys carries a similar one and also resold by some companies as an animal washer (like horses). It is carried by Tractor Supply. It is a mostly plastic design (looks just like Adam's / Chemical Guys). I am sure it is made in China. I had a Gilmour a while back but traded it. It comes with three little nozzles and you insert one in the inlet tube in the bottle so obviously not something you change often. The Griots documentation states to select based upon water pressure but some posts on MOL show that these control the dilution just like the sliding bar does on the Gilmour. They recommended the "blue" one which is the one I used. The inside diameter is different so they do control dilution. If I recall the blue one is 1:64 per the post on MOL. The spray nozzle snaps on the bottle top. It takes a little pressure to snap but it goes on but does not feel secure (like it will pop off) but saw no issues Net: It works....It created a lot of frothy foam. Advantages: Fun soap waster. Inexpensive given the price of the Gilmour. I am not sold on its ability to minimize swirls but it is a nice toy. Concerns: All plastic design. My guess the head could not survive if dropped the wrong way at some point but does come with Griot's warranty. The car was just coated in road salt but it did seem to clean up nicely with just the foam down. Soap used in the pic: Optimum a 4:1 dilution. I think I can use even less. It generated a lot of frothy foam ...by the time I got the camera a lot had dribble off...note ground around car. The pic looks blurry because the foam was dripping down (moving) due to lower shutter speed. DSC_2468-1
Thanks for the review. I was wondering how it worked. I guess it suds up pretty well for a foam gun; it's no cannon foam but I don't think even a gilmour on a hose foams like a cannon.
I was about to jump the gun on this foam gun but now i have a foam cannon coming so dont need it anymore lol thanks for the review
Ken is hooking me up with it locally as he suggested that its a lot better when I called him to woe about the one Karcher gave me (along with me calling him 1/2 dozen times in a span of 2 days), give him pm (911Fanatic) if you want, else a Canadian dealer that has it is autoobsessed.com which is shipped from Edmonton.
I bought the same one from CG when they had it on sale for $40 along with three great shampoos. It foams up nicely, but it will be replaced soon enough when my foam cannon comes in.
I do want to buy a pressure washer this year. I am still debating on the $280 Karcher type or spend 2x and get a real pro one. The Kranzle that Phil sells with the dispenser etc, looks nice.
