I usually just use a wax as my LSP. Since being here,I have now tried and bought more products than I can test. However,I usually don't do a sealant. I wan to do my black truck with some Naviwax I just got,but want to put a sealant underneath. Seems like the Powerlock and Black Fire Wet Diamond are always recommended. Is one really that much better than the other,or should I just get both and try each on a half of the truck?

I like powerlock better as it seems less runny cuz it isnt polycharged. But I only have the bf all metal sealant which may be different

The 2 coats of Blackfire Wet Diamond has lasted and has looks great. Its been 5 months since I applied it and it finally starting to wear away now and being that my Mustang Gt is Black and it lives outside 24/7. I would have expected BFWD to only last about 3 month in the El Paso heat and dry conditions but has lasted 5 months. Not only that it takes less than 1oz to put a coat on a large vehicle.

It seems Powerlock doesnt last as long as Blackfire?

I have not used Blackfire, but have to say that Power Lock is my favorite sealant.

In what I've read, it seems you cannot go wrong with either. Comes down to personal preference.

Ive used both extensively and feel that on most finishes the difference if there is one, is negligible. However I think powerlok is less likely to streak because it's a little less oily, possibly due to not having polycharger in it.

    Power lock gets my vote

On solid black, I like Powerlock as it seems to make the paint a wee bit deeper. Blackfire looks better on metalics. Just my opinion but you can't go wrong with either.

havent used BF, but powerlock to me is very predictable in the way it goes on and how long it cures.... wipes off very easily. also I like the results, comming from zaino its deeper and much slicker.

As others have said, this comparison is a very subjective thing.

I think you should grab both (perhaps borrow some from a local DB member to save cost) and then do the 50/50 patch on the hood of your truck. That way you can get familiar with the two and see what you think is best.

I have them both. I like BF a little better. Very nice stuff. But, there's nothing wrong with PL either.

Played with both. Just get the one that's on sale and not overthink as there is pretty much no difference.

So since you guys referr to the Blackfire as a "sealant", does that make it a LSP? Do you use anything on top of it, like a carnuba?

  18. Rcrew

    Rcrew Wax on..Wax off

    LSP= Last Step/Stage Product
Can be a sealant, glaze, hybrid or pure carnauba.
It is pretty common to stack or layer carnauba on top of a sealant, or sealant upon sealant or other combinations.

I've tried both, along with WG DGPS 3.0, Honestly i can't differentiate between the three, all came out almost identical in slickness and look. I haven't been able to test durability. It might be I like BF better because of the polycharger hype, but it might just me. So my verdict pick whichever gives you the lowest price

I tried the nuba topping on BFWD, you know - it may just be me but I've never thought adding wax helped, if anything it took away from the slickness and added more work for me. I'd go with two coats of BFWD over 1 coat of BFWD and 1 coat of any wax.
