So being on DB for the past few months, I have gained quite a few insights and knowledge and also reason why i fail at so many things. So I dont know if this will infringe any forum rules but as I posted in clark's thread, I have a server with unused capacity that I want to at least be used so I'm getting my moneys worth every month. And with that, I want to offer any young/hobbyist/part time detailer access to free full featured web hosting service. All you'll need to do is buy yourself a domain name off godaddy/namecheap/etc then i'll get you set up with your own web space. I may also purchase one or 2 domains that'll allow those who dont want to get their own domain names a totally free service. Can someone do check if me offering this service to DB members infringe any rules or makes the boss unhappy before i go into more info/preparation? But yeah mainly I want to really reward and help some of these guys who detail as a student and basically how I'd love to be in their position selling services but can't because of my fail-ness and unfitness as I approach 23 in 1 month.
I am very interested. I detail as a part time thing as well, and I was just about to start making my own site. If I get busy this spring/summer, I would gladly pitch in with the bill as well.

Ok so heres some stuff I typed up which will apply once DB Boss says ok for me to provide it officially for forum members. Legal Jargon: I, represents me whom is providing you service You, represents you the user of my service 1. The service I am providing will remain free (or more of being there) until notified 20 days in prior with notice via email or forum post 2. The service is provided as is and provided under good will and by best efforts 3. You are responsible for your own back ups 4. I am not responsible for any lose of data that may occur do to any reason (thus you should always keep a back up copy of your data) 5. You are responsible for keeping your website clean of any illegal contents (or content that will get me in trouble) 5. a. Do not host MP3 songs that you dont own the copyright to as that can get me in trouble 5. b. Do not host movies that you dont own the copyright to as that can also get me in trouble 5. c. They may exist on the server but those are not for public to see and will not get you the user in trouble 5. d. Your content need to comply to US laws and Germany laws (no neo-nazi sites) 6. Your website has to be for your detailing business and sub-renting/lending/such your account space to others is strictly prohibited 7. You are responsible for the reliability of your domain name and its your responsibility to pay the bills for your domain name (where as its my responsibility to pay the server fees while I am still providing the service) 8. You accept that I have ability to access your directory as the server owner(so dont put personal pictures on there) but the copyrights to your content remains yours and I, in no circumstance will make use of your content for personal gains. Violation of my legal jargon will get your account suspended unless a written explaination is provided to why you have violated my legal jargon and provide a reason why your account should be restored. My urges: 1. I recommend keeping your site advertisement free (google ads and such) as it would make it look like geocities and those 2. I recommend using your own email address (I can help set up forwarding or you can do so yourself) as I dont want to be held responsible for lost emails. 3. Always keep back ups of your site 4. Do not apply for the service if you already have a full blown system that manages e-commerce, I do not have the SSL certificates nor am I planning to get them as I dont do e-commerce. (therefore simple system ok, advanced cpu taxing system nono) 4.a. If you have such system, you should already have some reliable hosting with full time in this business, thus you're not my intended audience 5. Be mindful on cpu processes that there are also other users on the same server so do not try anything adventerous or use the site to develop your web application (which is in violation of my legal jargon anyways) and do NOT run infinite loops in PHP. Server Information: Its hosted in Munich, Germany and is connected via a shared 100mbps port. It runs a Celeron 2.5Ghz with 2GB of ram. You will be provided access to a ftp account that will direct to your webspace. You will also be provided a virtualmin control panel if I can get it to work. The server runs Webmin + Virtualmin packages with Apache2 /w PHP5 and mySQL. mySQL setups will have to go through me (and i will have to figure it out) Webspace Information: I will possibly grant 50MB or so of space to each user (just to make sure I have enough for everything), extra can be requested for free if you really need it (quota driven) only if you really need it. You will be allowed to run PHP scripts and have access to mysql (when I sort it out/when the time comes) therefore uploading full blown resolution pictures from your 18megapixel DSLR will not be advisable, consider resizing them to an average of 200KB~ Those who do not wish to buy a domain name, I will have 1 or a few domains that you can choose from when I figure out a good main domain for you guys. Considerations: 1. give me time to set things up for you as it is not the only thing on my schedule 2. give me time to fix things as I am not god like in server management in addition, feel free to pm/send to email me any questions you have on this and I will reply asap. Also before I go and make your account, please have your domain name ready bought if you are going with that route. (Domain names in general are 10bucks/year) Subdomains will require me some time to make em work and wont be available till I buy the parent domain

Yeah, it's a great program for making simple websites. Really easy to use one you get familiar with it. It plugs right in to the ftp when you're ready to publish and BAM, you has a website! Give it a try, you'll like it.
godaddy.com and namecheap.com are cheaper for the guys in US (and cheaper for us too most of the time) =p and im still in the process of making the secret phone call
I would like some suggestions for the master domain name for those who do not wish to buy their own domain names. anyone got some? Im thinking along the lines of detailedby.com] or like detaildir.com, or detailingservice.com (whch is apparently for sale but prob $$$) tho its down to avaibility of em lol I have yet to buy any domains so its free for all still
