Hi Guys, I have seen over the course of many months that many people over on DW like to use Meg's Gold Class Endurance Tire Gel. Has anybody used this product? I can never find it in stores but a week or two ago when I was recycling used motor oil at my local Auto Zone, they had several bottles on the shelf so I picked one up. I am hesitant to use it because I have a lot of experience with Meg's Hot Shine Tire Gel and no matter what I did, I could never apply it without having it sling all over my car. Anybody have any reviews on this Endurance Tire Gel as far as slingage, looks, and durability? Seem to be popular enough that Meguiar's is soon releasing an Endurance Tire Spray as well. Thanks, Emile
I think its really blueberry syrup, but I havent tasted it yet. Honestly, I bought some and I didnt care for it. I still have 3/4 of a bottle if you want it. Its very thick. It doesnt spread easily. I dont think it lasts longer than my beloved Poorboys Bold n Brite. It doesnt sling though cuz its too thick. Its VERY glossy. Hope that helps. Joe D
Too glossy really? I love it specifically because I don't find it too glossy. Maybe you're using too much or not spreading it enough. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b220/freeyayo1/P4100310.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b220/freeyayo1/P4100313.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b220/freeyayo1/G35/DSCF0514.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b220/freeyayo1/G35/DSCF0512.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b220/freeyayo1/G35/DSCF0518.jpg
Ive never used it, but my neighbor came by with some on his car, obviously he over applied it. Looks nice. Obviously its technique.... I recant my statment. Not a big fan of meguires stuff but that looks pretty nice . How is the longevity?
Longevity is pretty good if I remember correctly. I just applied some today so I'll actually take note of the exact number of days. Hopefully no snow this week.
Good to see you're still detailing Mike! How's it been goin' man? I see your friend still has the supra and the G is still looking good, I really like the rims. I can vouch for the Meg's Endurance Tire Gel, I like it a lot and it's a really economical product, very little is used per tire. I usually jump around with tire shines but I always come back to this one, definitely a good overall product. Here's an application guide as I use it: - Use a tire sponge to apply, one line of product will coat a good amount of the tire, spread evenly and use a small amount of excess rather than too little. - Let it sit anywhere from 15 mins-1 hour(I usually do ~45mins-1hr) - Wipe down the excess with a demoted microfiber You'll have a nice satin finish with no sling. I usually apply then busy myself with the interior or something for time and wipe it down along with my final inspection of the car. Here's some pics(old thread I know, but good pics of the tire shine) in the first couple pics of this thread: http://www.detailingbliss.com/forum/show-shine/11075-2009-s550-revitalization-pics-vid.htm
I agree with you there, with that method you can take any greasy tire shine and make it look nice. I've been using their Hot Shine stuff, because it comes in liquid spray form. I just apply a small amount to a tire dressing applicator and coat each tire, using more or less product depending on the look I'm going for. Lasts a long time, or till it rains. I've never experienced any sling with that method either.
This was the first tire dressing I used and I liked it but it has a few downsides. I personally would not use it on tires that have a lot of grooves. I tend to go for non-gels for those situations, or you have to be careful not to over apply. If you ever find yourself cleaning tires, you'll want to use a stiffer brush to make sure you are cleaning it off, because this stuff lasts. My brushes were nowhere near strong enough to remove the old dressings and it was so strong I just ended up having a slight build up as a result of adding more applications over time. Over time I had this slightly dark black brownish hue on my tires and I realized I had a build up of the megs gel. I was actually pretty surprised at its durability and I got no sling either. Funnily enough after I spending a long time removing all the old build up I was left with a tire that was pretty much in mint condition probably because the gel was protecting it. So now I use it during the fall/winter when there is a lot of rain mainly to keep the tires looking great for the summer.
I use it and think it's a good tire dressing, when it is allowed to sit for a little while. I usually apply it and wait at least 30 minutes before driving the vehicle but the longer the better. I don't apply it after every wash but maybe every other because it can buildup. But other than that it gets my vote!
