Anybody Wear headlamps?

A member posted asking about headlamps in the Coast Flashlight thread. I was wondering when I was polishing if any of you guys where these?

They would be useful as you don't have to hold a flashlight, and obviously would help with visibility and what not of how your polish is breaking down. Just wanted to know if any of you guys wear them and which one?

Lowes sells a coast headlamp for 25 bucks (forgot the model). I was tempted to buy it, but it's not a necessity as of right now.

 

I use this headlamp. It´s very good.

 

i have an HID Topeak light i use for riding i was thinking about putting on next time i was polishing

do you find it's helpful in finding defects?

 

I have two but I use it mostly for doing interiors when lighting is poor. Typically they don't have enough power for polishing. I saw one recently that was fairly powerful so may pick it up.

 

so when i ride (my bicycle) at night my head lamp will light up the entire block like i was a car. it is by no means a tiny LED jobber i think the only hard part will be getting used to wearing my bike helmet when i polish ;0)

My dad just purchased a Surefire Saint Minimus online. It's throws out 100 lumens.

What power output have you guys noticed works for detailing work (If any)?

 

I got the coast H7...its great headlamp..I can't do interiors w/o it. I haven't polish with it yet, but I do plan to

 

I use the fenix hl20. This light has basically 3 modes; 4 lumens, 48lumens and 105 lumens. The 4 lumens too weak for detailing, but the 48 lumens and 105 lumens works well for exterior work when you are indoor. I like it because you can tilt the light up or down to a certain degree and it helps especially when you want to shine downwards when polishing the hood while aim straight when polishing vertical panel. I would wish for something stronger though for exterior but I have not found any that runs of only 1 AA batt, lightweight yet produce this amount of brightness. When fix on the diffuser len, it works great for interior.

Seems like a brilliant idea for interiors, but I would rather have a couple of those big holegen (sp?) flood lights on stands for the exterior... But whatever tickles your fancy

 

I know Richard from ShowCarDetailing used to wear a headlamp when detailing.
