this car some of you may have seen me post before. it belongs to one of my good regular customers, along with the audi allroad and jeep commander. this mint E46 has only around 13K miles (i think...correct me if im wrong damon). it will be stored away indoors for the winter. this M, as well as all of the owners vehicles, have seen correction of some sort in the past year or so, and he takes extremely good care of them. i see the cars for maintenance regularly which helps as well. for storage, this car would see a thorough hot water powerwash rinse, and the wheels were cleaned with sonax. wash would be with ONR and hot water. 2 coats of 845, and a coat of autoglym HD. tires would see 2 coats of SV pneu, and the top would be treated with 303 Aerospace. as the engine was relatively clean, i gave it a quick wipedown with APC and dressed it with Adams In and Out. no clay was necessary on this car except for a few spots here and there. glass was cleaner with prima clarity (really great stuff by the way), and the wells would be dressed with Adams Undercarriage. 2 of these bad boys would be my heat source for the weekend. big thanks to my customer damon for supplying these, as without them detailing would have been next to impossible. after about 15 minutes its like being in florida! pictured here is my customer damon helping me out by blasting everything with a nice hot water pressure rinse engine tidied up indoor afters outdoor afters 2 and a half cars down, end of day 1
Looks great Billy! I wouldnt have expected 845 and HD to be such a good combo but it came out looking superb. I don't envy powerwashing in the cold though.
thanks chas. yeah the 845 and HD combo is REALLY nice. im not one for "combo'ing" LSP's lately, but i figured what the heck. it came out looking great, and REALLY slick. plus, i can only imagine what the durability is going to be like. i did 2 caots of 845 topped with i think Onyx last year on his other car (the commander) and i think he reported it lasting almost over 6 months. its a shame because the silver looked so much better in person. i mean i was really impressed with the look of it, especially on something as sterile as silver metallic.
Very nice work, probably still the best looking M3s out there. A classic. That silver is looking BRIGHT.
Great work as usual. I'm not surprised that you customers keep coming back. Are you willing to come to VA? The Highlander needs tons of TLC. I'm actually purchasing two propane tank heating elements this weekend. They are awesome and fairly cheap.
I didnt realize those rigid pw units could handle a hot water supply. Great job on the M,looks great!
thanks gianni. i'd be glad to come down the VA....all expenses paid right? those propane units are pretty badass. i think they were around 40 each. thanks man! usually they run around 40 for the single head unit. i know they make onces with two heads per heater too. the instructions state that a single burner unit on full blast will last 14 hours on a 20lb tank i think.
Awesome work Bill. I have one of those propane heaters that was giving to me from a friend. I need to dig it out and start using it more. Do you have to worry about fumes???
thanks pat. yeah some ventilation is definitely required so you dont fill up the garage with CO, pass out, and die, lol. i just cracked one of the garage doors about 3 inches and it did the trick without letting too much heat out.
The silver looks great, how long between the coats of 845 do you wait? How long before topping with HD?
thanks. usually i wait longer, but as i was limited on time for this, i waited 20 minutes between coats.
