Collinite 845 Why use anything else?

I think so.

Im a very simple guy, if something doesnt work despite proper application, cure time and removal then I have no reason to try it again on someone elses car, especially when they are paying me and I am working with time constraints.

Numerous people have experienced streaking with 845 on solid black colors. I have no doubt that the product will work better on a silver, white or blue car but I really have no desire to use it again because there still is that chance of it streaking, however slight, there is a chance.

And also since I began using Blackfire, then Powerlock I really have been satisfied with their results and dont worry about streaking on any color in any temperature condition. :thumb:

 

I would have to say, ever since using Powerlock I haven't given 845 much of a look since I have been so happy with Powerlocks results.

 

interesting. i see where you're coming from. i've had issues with it streaking as well, but have since been able to tweak my application to have it not happen. i forgot to mention that temperature does play a role in "issues" with 845 as well as you said. i treat it in summer months almost as if it were a high end nuba...the heat and humidity just tend to not play well at all with it on dark colors. but then again, the warmer months this year will be powerlock time for me. i can get away with using 845 without issue in the warmer seasons now though. then again i havent really given powerlock too much of a real chance yet. i think ive only put a couple coats on my own car with it, and thats it.

 

Billy I think you'll really like Powerlock if you use it more. I used to be dedicated to 845 but ever since using Powerlock with the ease of use and the look it leaves, its hard to beat and hard to put down.

 

yeah from the two times i had used it, i liked it a LOT. i ended up not using it too much because primarily my customers want max durability, which i know 845 will give them. i wasnt willing to take the "risk" of putting powerlock on their cars without having seriously tested it myself.

now you've got me considering stripping the 845 off of my car and layering up some powerlock to see how it does me through the winter.

 

I have had Powerlock on now for 5 weeks, we have had 2 snows of like an inch or so, which you probably got a taste of two up there too, plus consistent temps in the teens, maybe low 30's if we've been lucky and its still beading like it did the first day I put it on. I was going to put two coats on it but decided to do one to see how it would hold up alone.

 

Do you have pics of that? I have a non-metallic black that at some point I'll probably lay 845 over.

 

Joe that wax might do it for you... "Does it all" Having said that it always fun to change , try new products and finally technology is changing so quick so what was no. 1 yesterday usually loses ground to new technologies .... Just my .02 ...

 

Why isnt this wax the only wax anyone ever uses?

Its not considered a 'beauty wax' (style over sustance)

 

I totally agree. I love changing up on my LSP's. Ease of use is important to me cuz I'm a chump like that. All the LSP's I have kept seem to be easy to apply and remove. SV Zuffenhausen, Concorso, Zymol Glasur, P21s bluetop and silver top, BFWD and at some point Powerlock. Even the glossit stuff. I am a bit of an addict. Right now I am in the mental frame of mind where I'm appreciating the Collinite 845. But as usual, that will come and go. One thing I've noticed along the way. Other than the smells, They are not that different from one another.

We are all very lucky to have great choices.

Dave, it smells like ass?!? I can only agree if the ass had some Raid sprayed on it..

No I don't have pics ... sorry. Like I said before. 845 looks good on everything, but it was way too bright/glossy on my black car. I did experience some streaking a couple of times, but it was because it was applied on a really humid day.

OCW will give 845 a subtle nuba glow. Aquawax will make it look more like a sealant.

 

I agree for the price and durability (especially here in New England) you can't beat it. There are definitely better waxes out there for looks etc, but the 845 is right on the top of my list.

I prefer depth on non-metallic colors and gloss on metallic ones.

 

I dislike 845 because I love to wax my car about once a week lol. For clients who want a long lasting wax 845 is absolutely great.

 

845 is the only LSP I have used this past fall and I don't know if I'll try anything else...I really can't believe people are paying hundreds of dollars for wax and those waxes have to be reapplied almost every time you wash the damn car!

 

How does 845 compare to M16 as far as durability?

 

I have put 845 on my GTI and just yesterday, my dad's BMW, both bright red. So far I'm very impressed with it on my GTI...we've had a few snows and here in Kentucky they salt the roads like there's a blizzard coming every time there is even the slightest chance of snow. Therefore my car gets really nasty in the winter. I finally got a chance to wash it (ONR ftw!) and it still looks great, and it looks fantastic on the Bimmer as well.

I have been using Powerlock in the summer though, and I prefer the look of it to 845, however they are both terrific products. They both look great (although I have not tried 845 on a black car yet), are both very easy to apply and remove, and are both quite durable. But the 845 is definitely more durable...something I am eager to test for myself as winter progresses.

IME 845 on black produces the hyper-glossy, "plastic" type shine some don't prefer on black. You can spot a dust speck from across the garage... usually before you're even finished. :yikes:

I've layered 915 over 845 on black and it produced more depth and warmth. Which really only contributed to more work because 915's durability is comparable to 845s, IMO. Nothin's faster or easier than 945 though!
