As a MKV Rabbit owner...I'm excited.

It has the right amount of pedals too.

The wheels look a lot like B8 S4 wheels to me, which is good.

I wish I was closer. I would offer to teach you and offer my car to practice on.

If you understand the elements of it: the gear pattern, the clutch, what is mechanically happening. It becomes a practice thing.

The most important thing to practice is your clutch control - modulating the clutch just the right amount to be smooth.

PM me if you have specific questions.

icic, I was gonna learn it from a driving instructor but he has since stopped teaching stick cuz of the maintenence on the machine. my dad also sold his Audi TT /w stick before i got enough driving experience lol.
I do understand how it mechanically works and how the clutch pulls the plate from the engine flywheel thus allowing you to change gears and how if you ride the clutch properly you wont stall when you go uphill from a stop.
I should buy a 2nd hand stick to learn sometime.
I also want to learn how to ride a bike but my parents hate the idea of body on metal sigh

Rowing gears isn't that hard, its a man's job to learn hahaha

The R looks like something I would love, but sorry to VW fans, I have my doubts about the 2.0 TFSI. I also can't imagine it being cheap in CAD. Considering the GTi is something around 38k, this is going to be touching 50k.

actually test drove one of these a couple weeks back

i had a MK 5 DSG R32 as a second car last year and sold it after a couple months because it was so boring

the R isnt any better imo. Theres just no feel through the steering wheel or the chassis, everything feels artificial and over assisted/dumbed down. My vote is still the evo x in that price category. But in keeping with the hatch platform, id go for something like a Reno ClioSport F1. Hot hatches are supposed to feel agile and alive in your hands.

Just asked about preorder info on these at work. They're expecting to get preorder info in july or august of 2011. And coincidentally I am now first on the list to get the opportunity to preorder one when the time comes.

Well...I think I'm not going to be able to test drive one of these. :(

I'll have to find a friend with one when I'm considering purchasing.
