I use ONR at QD dilution (8oz/1 GAL which is 2oz/32oz) for clay lube. Lower dilutions are not slick enough IMO. Using Griots garage clay and ONR QD for lube, I have not had marring occur on my Miata, which has pretty soft paint.

Here is my take on it:

Claying a car is based on friction. Considering that the lube helps "glide" the clay across the surface, there is still some resistance since there is only so much a lube can do. So in that aspect, no matter what, there will always be some type of micromarring apparent after claying. That includes stuff you can and can't see by the naked eye.

As for the Sonus one, does it specifically state that it wont remove 100% of the LSP? If it doesn't, then its a play on the words. It might not strip ALL of your LSP, but it will probably strip some of it.

"Sonus SFX Ultra Fine Detailing Clay is so fine that it will not leave microscopic scratches. It cannot be over used. In fact, Sonus SFX Ultra Fine Detailing Clay is so fine that it will not remove most waxes. "

Mazda paint seems to not be as soft as some other Japanese paints are especially vs Nissan paint.

Anytime you clay it is picking up contaminents and is sure to mar the clear coat. Do you think the clay self heals itself around the contaminents?

Weird because my 00 miata seems to scratch if I just look at it funny, its much softer than the 95 toyota, 99 toyota, and 05 Chevy paint I've worked on, guess not every model is the same by different manufacturer?

Every soft paint I have used clays both sonus green and riccardo has marred. I used 5 different clay lubesONR/OID/soaps/claymagic #49/last touch. Clay just marrs soft paint even worse when cold too. But good think about soft paint is you can clean up marring easilyl
