Can someone explain this to me please

Hello All, Could someone please be as so kind to explain why the flex rotary costs less than the flex DA polisher? I would think that it would be the other way around. I'm torn between the two. I have a no name rotary that I use sometimes but need a quality machine now. Thanks for any input. :shead:

 

What kind of work are you doing? Heavy compounding or light swirl removal?

 

It all depends on the vehicle. I mostly do it as a hobby and do friends cars but sometime a real job comes along from a friend of a friend and thats where the fun begins. I'm just curious as to why the rotary is cheaper than the dual action.

 

The rotary is pretty simple. Inside its a motor driving gears to spin the head. The DA does that as well, but also oscillates the head at the same time. Its a more complicated machine. IMHO, I'd get the 3403 lightweight and a PC, either the 7424XP or the Griots version.

 

Agree with Ken. I would go with the Flex 3403 if you know how or are very eager to learn rotary and doing light duty correction jobs.

I had the 3401 flex DA machine and didnt like it. Much better off with a PC or Griots

 

Agree with the guys above - the Rotary is way simpler to make and that's why it's less expensive. Just keep in mind that the Flex 3403 Rotary has a start up speed of 1100rpm, and this may or may not be a good thing for your needs.

The Flex 3401VRG is as you know, not a Rotary, and it starts at 160, I believe.

The only drawback if it is for you with the Flex 3401VRG is that it comes with only 1 backing plate for 6' pads, while any other Random Orbital will be able to use 3-4 different backing plates, for different sized pads

And as already has been said, I also agree that the best thing is to have one of each.
