When is this show starting? I'm just hoping it will be just as entertaining as Top Gear UK(VERY HARD to beat Jeremy Clarkson), because Top Gear Australia is rubbish...Fifth Gear was so-so...

Nov 21st, from initial reviews and clips it seems like it will be pretty decent.

I was on set for the filming of one of the early episodes. Was a decent show. Cast is solid, but nowhere near the synergy Jeremy, Richard, and James have. That'll probably come in time as they work more with each other, but have some solid hopes.

I do hope it turns out good as well. I think a lot of the reason I love Top Gear is the British humor, which just makes the show for me. I'll certainly tune in...what channel will it be airing on?

I went to the live recording in So Cal where it is filmed. Its gonna be good.... But not as good as clarkson and the boys.

I love British humor, it is funny, and Clarkson is very entertaining. It will be on History channel.

It'll be tough to replicate the original Top Gear. It's the cast that makes it so good.

Saw trailer with old boats in some "off road" environment... <sigh>

Subpar talent & subpar cars - this won't end well.

Even the UK version stinks sometimes. I'm really getting sick of those lame-ass "races". Clarkson blowing up that Maserati engine was unforgivable.

Car shows are almost impossible to pull off. I can't think of one except Top Gear UK that I can stomach.

Couldn't agree more; Top Gear is certainly the best of the lot but still not consistently great (e.g. some of their silly challenges). For the matter, I cannot stomach Fifth Gear at all - the presenters are not interesting and way too many advertisements/text-your-answer-to-xxxxx during their program.

At SEMA they showed the preview and introduced the cast, while I enjoy the brit humor this looks to be good, time will tell for sure.

    Cheers,

The UK cast is so good at playing clueless and stupid and although they seem to get along overall the annoyance with each other often seems real which works well.

I agree, most of the challenges are way more entertaining than they really should be but some do fall short. The cast is what saves the lame ones that end up good.

And some of the challenges are over the top stupid and just can't be saved.

There is something you should know about Top Gear. Since the BBC is not financially funded by advertisers, they are free to give their honest opinion on whatever they would like to without repercussions from advertisers. This is probably one of the main reasons why the show is so good. They are un-biased, can slag off anything on the show and essentially have a top show.

The US version of Top Gear, on the other hand, relies on sponsors and advertisers. Because of this, the entire show becomes quite scripted and predictable. In other words, dull and boring.

I don't know how I missed that episode. That is the funniest Top Gear show I have ever seen!
My son and I were laughing so hard we had tears in our eyes.

Yeah I thought it wasn't up to par either. However, I won't deny I probably will watch it each week just because of the cars.

I didn't think it was terrible.

    It just wasn't Top Gear.

I did'nt like it at all, I think what makes top gear is the chemisty between Hamster, Captain Slow, and Clarkson. How they interact, feel about cars is so ridiculas it makes us watch and hunt it down on tv everyday. New top gear feels so awkward, the cast dosent have it together, I know its theyre first episode but, it did'nt feel right to me. Top Gear UK can't be duplicated.

Tjfrom215: I agree completely. I did not enjoy Top Gear USA at all.

The other thing that bothered me with Top Gear USA is they tried to copy too many ideas from the BBC UK one, rather than coming up with original and unique content. Comes off as a lazy rip off...
