I'm using M105 for the second time today and have a problem with the compound buffing off after a couple of section passes. I am using PC with an orange pad and after finishing a section I go to buff it off and it just will not come off. The only way that I have found to get it off is with IPA or just take 20 minutes and scrub really hard. This can't be the way the compound is supposed to work. Has anyone had any trouble with this or does anyone have any advice how to easily get it off? Thanks.
couple of things. The weather plays a huge roll in using M105. If you are in a humid area that could possibly be the issue. Others things to consider would be like you mentioned to use a IPA as a aid of removal or you could be possibly over working the M105 which would cause it to dry and cake up. Clean your pad frequently and you can also give a little spritz of water now and then as M105 flashes (dries) really fast. It's not like using Menzerna's products which have a lot of oils in them to allow for longer work times.
I could be totally off here, but I read something about soft/sticky clears "gumming" up on the surface and being hard to remove especially when using the KBM w. M105.
Hey, I was also having the same issues as you are, using the same equipment. M105 is a real pain to use but is also a great product. What I have found was that it has a very short life meaning that if you are using it at speed 6 it will only last 2-3 passes ( and that's if your doing a small 2x2 foot section.) I have found that anything bigger than that it dries up, I also prime the pad as in the KBM and it seems to help alittle. You could also try as vtec suggested and spritzing the M105 and see if that helps. Hope this helps you out. Just my 0.02
As soon as you are finish doing polishing passes, spray IPA right on. Leave this for 15 second and then remove. Also, make your polishing pad prime with a mist of some water before adding 105. If it stay wet, it maybe a little splatter to clean up but it should work smoother for you.
not sure what you guys doing wrong, using m105 with purple wool pad and no issues, i usualy dont step down from 6 on PC to wipe polish off and it comes off almost like sealant. try on yellow or purple wool pad, make sure temps are more then 60F
