From World Car Fan These are the best spy shots yet that we've seen of the upcoming 2012 Porsche 911. This time we're up close to two coupe prototypes seemingly undisguised (although at this stage of the development process prototypes can still be hiding under false body panels). Noteworthy is how the second prototype is showing the retractable sunroof opening of the next-generation model. We're also getting a far sharper look at the new rear end design, particularly the frame between the taillights. The next 911 will feature a stop/start system and regenerative braking becoming standard technology on the model, in order to improve fuel-economy and CO2 emissions. An updated 3.6 liter inline 6-cylinder good for 365 bhp (272 kW / 370 PS) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque will be the entry-level power plant. A revised 3.8 liter 6-banger will be fitted to the Carrera S model producing 415 bhp (309 kW / 421 PS) and 440 Nm (325 lb-ft) of torque. Transmissions will be a choice of the seven-speed PDK sequential double-clutch gearbox or the more pedestrian six-speed manual. Look for the next 911 to make its debut sometime next year.
I love porsches, but the body style changes are so minimal, you really have to park them together to tell. I know a few guys here work on them all the time and know the differences, but this comment is coming from a guy that sees a porsche about once a month.
something like this its about 60k off the way I see it LOL Porsche : 911: eBay Motors (item 290499433022 end time Dec-03-10 09:30:23 PST)
the changes are minimal, but the major difference was 996 to 997 the best thing porsche did was go back to the classic oval headlight, flat dash panel of the original cars. The 996 was a styling disaster, especially inside i was a huge porsche fan, but ive sorta gotten over them now, the problem is there are too many variants of the 911 these days coming out seemingly every month, and thus watering down of the allure. No sooner have you bought a GT2 that they release a GT2 RS and drip feed you a little more power and carbon.... an original 964 Turbo 3.6.... now that's what i really want. Last of single turbo rwd 911s. A modern day classic
