Hi guys. I'm facing a different situation, and I just wanted to ask your opinion. As you may remember I was helping members out with some stuff I was able to buy here in Hungary and were not available at that time in the US/Canada. A reputable member (thought so) from Canada got in contact with me and asked me to send him things. Well, the order wasn't exactly small as it ended up close to 900 bucks, but I packed the pads, backing plates, etc nicely, and off they went. That was 3 years (!) ago, and I haven't received the payment. Not a single cent. Not a hint of effort. He is well behind his last deadline of the second half of May, and he always has excuses. Some of them, like health issues are understandable (at that particular moment with a dose of empathy), but frankly I'm not interested in the excuses, because above a certain limit, they are just empty words. What would you do in this kind of situation?
Bence. Good to see you my friend. We sure can be suckers sometimes brotha!!!! I'm not sure. I was thinking a letter from a lawyer might help or a phone call. Good luck bro!!!!!!!!
Interestingly, as a minimum he could just ship the stuff back if he cannot pay for it, If he is not willing to do that then I would never believe anything he says and expect no money. Is it someone we know here at DB that could be luring other members into a similar situation? The amount involved is not something trivial.
Hi Heath! Thanx! Bunky, yes, the amount is quite substantial. I waited patiently, without saying a word, for about a year, then I started to become "curious". I thought well, the guy is pretty exposed on the forum, etc., but I never thought of the endless loop of "inamonth, nextmonth, in2weeks"... Yes, he is a very well-known member. I don't know if he could lure somebody into a similar situation; but I rather doubt it. But after my course of naiveté...
That's quite unfortunate. Sorry to hear. I would publicly let us know who the thief is. Maybe that'll set a fire under his ass to pay up.
Very true, bad feedback is terrible thing. Also, this could save someone from potentially losing on a big trade or something from this member.
It's called karma buddy ... the person that screwed Bence should have thought about this before asking for a favor.
Bence I suggest that you let us know who it is. It is obvious that your generosity was taken for granted. I would hate to see that happen to someone else.
Bence, this is not a good sitution and I'm sorry to hear what happened. Can you please send a note to the Mods and we will see what we can do.
Wow, lotta responses! Guys, please excuse me if I still don't want to name names, but I still think that he is somehow a standup guy. I'm just asking you about the situation because I'm clueless and lost a bit how to handle the entire matter. Other than this, I have no hard feelings vectored towards/against him, and that's why I accepted the situation as is. Kinda difficult, but now I think I have to find the balance between my own personal feelings, his situation and business ethics in general.
I can assure you this is not what a stand-up kinda person does. The only reason I ask who is to avoid dealing with such a character. Also, I hope you get this resolved in the best way possible.
Sometime naming an individual in a public forum is the only way to achieve any results. It sucks that this is happening and you waiting this long shows your character, I don't think I would have waited that long to post the persons name. Not to bash but to help others avoid having something similar happen to them
When was the last time you contacted him? I would let him know that you've waited long enough and will be contacting a lawyer if this isn't resolved quickly. Spend a few dollars and have a lawyer draw a letter up and send it to him. Your cash will probably show up quickly.
Hey Bence - I never received your suggestion on the different coatings. PM me his username. Will you? I mean WTF? Even I sent the $$$ to you first.:crasy::crasy::crasy:
post his name, WTF is he anyway? Seriously no excuses what so ever. And for future, don't ship orders until payment is received.
this is just my opinion but after 3 years of not attempt to compensate you, they need to be called out . hey we all have hit hard times at one time or another. to just ignore somebody that you owe $900 and figure they will just fade away, is not a good thing and like another poster said " Karma will kick in " I for one would like to know who this person is , so i do not deal with them wither. to the original poster, I am sorry that you were treated like this.
Sorry this happened but why in todays world would you send that much stuff out to someone without getting paid first? Anyway I say call him out on the forums before someone else gets taken by the crook. At this point no one gives a crap if his feelings are hurt.
