UPDATE: PHOTOSHOOT AT END OF POST #1

This 2000 Porsche Carrera 4 in Guards Red was in for a full correction. This 911 was in pretty bad condition, from heavily swirled paint to severely baked on brake dust/contaminants.

Didn't get a full before pic of the car, so here's an after pic just to show you what I'm working with:

    LSP of choice: SV Insignis
    [IMG]

Wheel before, no- they are not painted grey :p::

    Wheel after:

    Process:
I decided to see how Sonax Full Effect would compete against straight CG Grime Reaper. Both were sprayed on liberally and left to dwell for ~5min. Agitated with various brushes then rinsed with a strong stream from the hose. I concluded that Sonax slightly beat straight Grime Reaper. I don't know how to explain, but Sonax just helped remove grime and brake dust more easily.

Applying Sonax in a Kwazar bottle. This bottle is a must-have:

The cleaner didn't really turn red like it does on every other wheel I've used it on. I'm just guessing because the wheel had so much dirt on it, not metal deposits etc. I might be wrong, though.

Agitating Sonax with a SV wheel brush

EZ Detail brush. I can't stand this thing, it always bends when I try to use pressure when agitating the wheel well. I need to get the Raceglaze brush sometime:

    Straight CG Grime Reaper:

    Behind spokes:

I spent about 20min on each wheel. When the wheel dried I noticed I didn't get every bit of the brake dust (not due to lack of experience, but because the wheels were hammered and needed special attention). So I had to go round 2 on them:

    The wash, befores:
    Typical bugs and such:

    Grime/tar:

Sprayed all lower panels with Megs APC 4:1 to loosen up grime:

Mixing my special potion for the foam gun. 1oz CG Maxi Suds, 2oz CG CWG, 2oz Megs Green APC. This is perfect for plenty of foam and to strip prior LSPs:

    Agitating emblems, cracks, and crevices:

    Corrected:

2 coats of PB Bold N Black. 1 to restore the tire, the 2nd to give it the gloss:

End of day 1 pics, still have a bit of polishing for the next day. As well as other exterior touch ups, then interior:

A little teaser for a detail soon to come ;):

Taping off paint to avoid getting 303 on it:

CG Bare Bones on the ducts, then spread around with a detailing sponge stick thing:

Klasse AIO sealant on the windows:

    90% IPA 1:1 wipedown:

Wax of choice: SV Insignis. I normally would put Power Lock on before Insignis, but I didn't have the time to let it cure. Moreover, this is a perfect way to test the durability of Insignis with proper maintenance washes (by me):

    Vacuumed while Insignis sat:

Removal, Insignis is just stunning- well worth the $:

No pics of the LM Protection Cream.
Interior was wiped down with 1Z Cockpit then protected with 303. Carpets were vacuumed and windows cleaned. Used SV Interior brush to help clean out some cracks.

    Finals:
Removed the shine from the leather and softened it up a bit, now constant maintenance will get it restored up to par. I want to try out Leatherique sometime, though:

Car looks great!!!, just a couple of suggestions when doing the wheels(not preaching mind you just suggestions which will help in the future).

. Get a knee pad and kneel(will save your joints, as you are still young and I am oldness and can still do it because you should work from your armpits to your waist).

. If you cannot dismount the wheels, just move the car foward or backward a foot to get at the part of the wheel misses in the first round/ rinse with a pressure washer(I do not do this as I have my lift).

.Do not lay anything on the ground which will touch the car(even if the car is marred up) as why make more work for yourself(time is money....).

As I stated not lecturing or looking down on you as the passion is there to see and the tips will save your body in the long run:nod:.

Thanks a lot everyone! This was really a fun car to work on :headbang:

-I could use a knee pad, I'll lay like 10 Mfs on the ground haha.
-The wheels. It's not that I couldn't get to areas, it's because the wheels were so hammered I had to go 2 rounds on them
-Yeah I thought about that when I was doing it. I normally have my wheel brushes bucket but I barely have room in my car for 2 buckets, 3 just won't work. I guess I'll have to be using my dirty water bucket from the TBM

Great job on that Porsche. As Bob said, get a kneeling pad. Griots Garage has a nice big one for $19.99 or just grab a package of 2'x2' foam squares at Home Depot. Using an old washmitt,( Microfibre, not sheepskin) will make it really easy to get the back of the spokes. :)

Great job the red really pops. I was going to ask you is that your black Mustang GT in your avatar? If it is what process, and products did you use on it? I ask because I have an 04 black Mustang GT and I used M105, M205 and 85RD on mine it looks good, but I still need to get a rotary to yield better results because I only have a PC at the moment.

    Thanks Dave!

Yeah I'm not on here as much as I used to be haha. School is going pretty well. I've got the hang of how classes and grades work. Business as in detailing? Well I scored this puppy and now I leave it to word-of-mouth. So I'm very lucky and happy I can still detail here.

    The EZ brush did well.

    Thanks Phil!

Yeah thats my baby in my avatar! I did the entire I process I did here, except 2 coats of Powerlock and 2 coats of Insignis. 2 coats of CG Ezyme on the wheels too.

Don't go from PC to rotary. This is my first time to use the Flex and I LOVE it. Well worth the $

Great job on the Porsche, it turned out amazing.

I'm with you on that wheel brush, I really like mine, but the way it bends real easy can be annoying when wanting to apply pressure.

Can you find the Raceglaze brush in the US? Sorry, I'm new to the Forum.

Yeah I don't think you can get it around anywhere in the US. But one of our good sponsor Chris at EShine sells them. So I will hit him up soon

The 3401 is SO much better than the PC. I have been having to deal with the PC for sometime now but I finally stepped up got the 3401. It's well worth the money.

Thanks a lot man! I've gotten alot of tips and what not from your details :) So thank you!
