I've seen several mentions of the firehose nozzle and was just wondering what everyone uses (firehose nozzle, regular nozzle, something else...) I've seen the firehose ones for assorted prices (Amazon.com: Fire Hose Nozzle: Automotive), though Walmart had a similar one for $6. Or do I just stick with a regular nozzle such as: Amazon.com: Orbit 58228D Lawn & Garden 7-Pattern Plastic Pistol Hose Spray Nozzle: Patio, Lawn & Garden (similar to what I already own). Does it really matter? Thanks!
Use a regular nozzle with a 7 pattern pistol for doing my rims (they dont get real dirty). But to rinse the pre-soak, I use my Foam Canon nozzle, and then remove all nozzles altogether to rinse.
I was on a similar quest. I found a lot of reviews on the Bonaire Ultimate Hose Nozzle. Here is a link for the one I bought. Amazon.com: Bon-Aire HN-10C Original Ultimate Hose Nozzle (Stainless Steel): Automotive It is more expensive than the six dollar ones but it will last 10x as long. The quality is incredible. Very well made. I will never use another nozzle Here is a picture also. Cheers Bob Premier Auto Detailing :thumb:
You can adjust from jet stream to flood and everything inbetween. Construction is stainless steel and brass with a heavy rubber coating. Will last you a lifetime.
I use the Craftsman Fire Hose Nozzle. The thing is a tank, and the lifetime warranty can't be beat. Sears: Online department store featuring appliances, tools, fitness equipment and more
I been using this one for about 5 years now and I wash about 4/5 cars a week and its still 100%. I like it because ; 1) Rubber so it reduces chances of scratching. 2) Turns off at both ends of the turnng .. flood end and sream end. I have bought 2 other clones and they didn't turn off in both directions nor were they softer rubber, more of a plasticie rubber. 3) I just drop it when I have sprayed the car .. no need to bend over and set it down, saves a lot of time over a few 100 cars etc. Prolly been dropped from waist height a few 1000 times with no ill effects. I think I paid $20 at Lowes
I use both the firehose model and the standard spray gun. What I like about the firehose model is the rubber so I don't scratch paint but the negative is you don't get as much pressure. I bought a Gilmour spray nozzle gun model 593 (Made in the USA) and it's my favorite. I've had it for 4 years and no problems, good pressure, and a nice fan spray. I uses a Gilmour wash gun instead of a foam gun only because it does the same and costs less.
i use the gilmour pistol grip from my foam gun at first to rinse of any dirt and debris, and then switch over to the firehose nozzle (i have a handful of different ones but use the small ones most often these days) for rinsing and sheeting off the final rinse...
