hello all, i have had several customer ask me to do odd jobs for them i have a car scheduled for monday owned by a single mom with 2 jobs, the car had tires rotated recently and the service center left off her wheel locks so she has been driving with 4/5 lug nuts, the car needs wiper blades and a few burned out bulbs. she has aksed me to take care of all this while i have the car. i agreed to but after wards i thought maybe this was a bad idea. i have another client with a fleet of exotics that he has me take to the dealer from time to time or move from his biusiness to his homes etc etc...hard to turn down the key to a 612 scagletti when the owner tells you dont drive it like a punk...drive it hard.
Personally, I would just do it. Anything you can do beyond anyone else will keep you in the spotlight.
i cut a persons lawn, weedeated and trimmed hedges once ofr a customer. i told them I had a landscaping business years ago and low and behold i was asked for additional stuff. i didnt care, i did it and got paid for both jobs
of course I will do odd job for my customers if they ask. depending on what those odd jobs are, I charge accordingly. I hope you get compensated for the cost of the wiper blades and bulbs and of course your time spent on getting those things fixed. I might not charge to drive those exotics though, I think i'd do that for free haha. Some of the things I have done for customers: power wash patio/driveway/front steps, clean the garage walls (garagetek system) and garage floor (tile), check up on stored cars while customers are at the winter home in FL, pick up cars from being serviced at dealerships, some people have asked me to put up and take down xmas lights for them, among other things.
I am also constantly getting asked to do jobs that don't involve 'detailing'. I figured if someone asks you to do these other chores for them, they obviously trust you. So don't disappoint
I agree. I've gotten paid to pressure wash lots of driveways etc because I was there and could. At the end of the day you are solving a problem and getting paid. Its all good.
I have some odds and ends for people. I have changed wiper blades, light bulbs and little things on cars and have been given a little extra as far as payment. One customer who's a regular I take in his trash cans from time to time. The guy has a bad back and I saw his struggling one day and offered to help. He was floored I asked and said he thought that kind of extra had long been forgotten. He pays very well for his maintenance washes and it takes all of 3 mins.
heres a good one i forgot...i have a very good weekly customer who just last week asked me to steam her trash can, took all of 25 mins and when she asked how much extra she owed i told her it was same as always. she appreciated it and it was the least i do for such a loyal customer, she ended up writing the check for a little more than usual
It's all good but don't forget about liability, if u don't torque lugs all the way or overtorque them and it voided damage, u might be held liable. But sounds guys who do it on side or mobile would get this requests since u would be at their home for example
