    Emile Welcome to Detailing

    Hi Guys,

Washed both parents' vehicles over the week-end (including mine, of course!) and took videos of some touch-less wheel cleaning using Sonax Xtreme Wheel Cleaner Full Effect and P21S Gel Wheel Cleaner. After the products were used, I followed up with Autoglym Custom Wheel Cleaner and agitated with brushes for 100% perfect results.

This is just a demo of how these two cleaners work without agitating to show their true performance. You be the judge.

Clarification: TWO different vehicles were used for the test, both same make, model, and year.

Note: Click on the video itself for better quality/resolution options and larger size.

Holy cow! :yikes: You sure do use a lot of wheel cleaner for one wheel. I could do all 4 wheels with the amount you used on one.

^ Ye even acid cleaners need agitation. Emile thank you for test for us it really go to show that follow up with brush and agitate is need to get wheels true clean.

People(not emile) focus so on wheel cleaner(hype sonax) being true spray on rinse off, and marketing on wheel kept wheel with low mileage dust or DUSTY but non bond brake dust only make people think this more. People end up wasting money and leaving some dusts to oxide into wheel..

    Been there, done that.

Yeah, it takes a lot of time to brush compared to spray-on hose-off but the results are far better.

LOL, yeah I used a lot for the demonstration but I am still guilty of always using a lot of product. The P21S bottle was empty when I was finished, but I always have a 5L container on hand.

I have always just cleaned my wheels with regular car wash soap and a soft brush or sponge to reach all surfaces. If you keep them clean every week or every other, you don't even need a wheel cleaner.

To the OP, looks like a Mercedes S550 in your pictures? Love that car.

Good question, I'm not sure to be honest. I think the pressure washer helps a lot but I couldn't really tell you by how much.

Yes, you have sharp eyes, but they are two different vehicles. One is white, the other is dark silver. I know that puts a lot of variables if you are trying to compare the performance of the two products so I can tell you that the barrels of the S550 with P21S Gel had not been cleaned in approximately a month whereas the S550 with the Sonax had its barrels cleaned a few weeks ago.

I hate seeing people spend moneys on "spray on rinse off" marketing that require more when you have to brush anyways. Thanks for doing video emile!

The sonax is not fully a "spray on, rinse off" wheel cleaner. The instructions do say agitation is required.

I dont know if you are "dissin" Sonax directly but Sonax extreme is a really effective wheel cleaner. I have also done tests as Emile and have found sonax to have better cleaning power. Regardless of what the manufacturer says, agitation is always a must if you want thoroughly clean wheels.

No no I not "diss" sonax, saying only that people end up spend more money on non dilute wheel cleaner with "rainbow action" for using on well maintain wheels because people who market sonax try to market hype it as spray on rinse off on wheels that are not even dirty or dusty where they could cleane with super light shampoo and regular hose, you know?

Im saying there are many effective cleaners that dont change colors lol that do just effective SAFE job but that don't cost as much because can cut with water..

All wheel cleaners need agitation so its silly to me to believe marketing on spray on rinse off or even pay that for cleaner bc so expensive

No worrys I am last person who you ever can talk to that would believe wheel cleaner are spray on rinse off. Even super dangerous acid type cleaner need agitation.

you are using waaaaaaaay too much wheel cleaner...that's like $10 to clean those wheels every time...I use way less, and still think I use a lot...

I get what you're trying to say....but wheel cleaners are some what like wax. Im sure there is no need to buy high end waxes when OTC stuff work fine but people like to try premium products as they of higher quality and have a certain prestige to them. Wheel cleaners like P21s and Sonax are know for being safe wheel cleaners for all types of wheels. There are not many products out there that are safe on all wheel types yet have really good cleaning power.

I can use simple green as an effective wheel cleaner but thats not going to look to good to my customers and is not safe for all wheels. Plus I reserve my P21s/Sonax to high end cars and aftermarket wheels.

hmmm. think i'll stick to my CG Diablo, Sticky Citrus gel and even premium blue. For the money they do what I need and cover all wheel types with that combo.
Does the P21s need to dwell for 60 minutes??

    Cheers

black20, I like the Sonax when it comes to brake dust. P21S Gel is excellent with brakedust but not AS good, and is better at handling roat dirt/grime/debris.

Sublime, I do use Sticky Gel on my own car every week so I know where you are coming from. According to the directions, P21S Gel is a product that allows you to dial in your cleaning power. You spray it on and allow it to dwell on the wheel for up to 2 hours (the longer it sits, the more cleaning power you get), and then brush and hose off. You should get most of the cleaning power if you spray on and let it dwell for about 10 minutes, and then agitate with a stiff brush. The directions to state that for moderatly soiled wheels, you can just spray on and start brushing immediately.
