my mom's car ('05 Acura RL) hasn't been washed in a month...and there was no brake dust at all, as I confirmed that by spraying Sonax Full effect on a wheel, and wheel gel never turned red...I guess it comes with ceramic brakes, and soap and water is all that's needed to clean those...now both of my beemers dust quite a bit...

I just finished my first bottle of Sonax Wheel Cleaner. Before buying, I had used only car wash soap since I clean my wheels almost weekly. Even on a German car with lots of dust, I find that weekly/bi-weekly cleaning with car soap works fine. The Sonax is a good product, but honestly, the horrible smell alone would make me try something different next time.

I have some AG CWC that I have not used yet.

I use Adam's Green Wheel Cleaner. For regularly maintained wheels, a 50/50 solution works well, full strength for dirtier wheels.
None of my cars produce lots of brake dust, so I primarily use car wash soap (at normal dilution) with a foaming sprayer. Kind of like a mini foam gun.

Nice avatar, show me the full size pic. Is it okay to dilute the Adam's product? I just got a 16oz bottle but didn't see in the directions that it can be diluted.

sonax indeed smells awful, it doesnt work that well on my mazda 5 aswell (maybe cuz the brake pads have less iron?) I still need to test it on my GLK,
AG CWC seriously is good stuff tho

Here is the power of AG CWC... was washing my car earlier and a friend dropped by - he hasn't washed his car since his last service (15000km ago).

Roast why did you dress the tires before cleaning the wheel?

Those weren't dressed... just wetted down with water. No idea why his tires were like that - might just be lighting from the flash.

Sonax works well with european car brake pads (magical on my GLK), must be brake pad composition.

Clean the wheel barrels next time too. They will give an even better idea of the cleaning power of AG CWC.

Will do, I was too lazy to break out the other brushes because that would require quite a lot of brushing to remove the built-up brake dust.

Here's another testimonial - I used CWC to clean a set of brake calipers I was repainting, and they were more effective than brake cleaner in getting rid of the dust and dirt build-up.
