Got a call today from a 2nd dealership to do as many cars as I can in a day doing my method of wash and wax, vacum interior and wipe down the interior today for only 50 dollars a car.

This is a dealership that sells used rental cars. The cars are really really easy to go through with the wash and wax method that I have but they only want to pay me every two weeks. I am reluctant to do this because I do not want to get cheated out of any cars that I worked on and was insisting that I get paid on the same day that I do the work but they insist that it takes time to do the invoice and get the money sent out to them to pay me.

do you guys have any input on if I should go in on this? just dont want to get scammed out of cars over the two week period and I dont know how many cars they are really going to have for me over the winter time period (Fridays and Saturdays).

    thanks

Every two weeks is not a bad deal. Considering most companies charge net 30 on all invoices.

just write down every car you do, year and vin lol.
That way they cant cheat you :) Because they have the same records.

As stated above net 30 is what most if not every business uses, two weeks is fine

As long as you fill out your invoices thats what they need to play you

Here is what I do with dealership accounts.

I go there and so as many vehicles as I can/they have for me.
After each car, I write down on my 2 part invoices the make, model, year, color, VIN, stock number, and amount. At the end of the day, I have the car lot manager sign off on it. After that, I turn in the 2nd part of my invoice in to either the parts counter or the accounting dept. where they enter in the invoice number and amount. I then in return get a PO number (purchase order) that I write down on my copy of the invoice. At the end of the month I do an end of month report and turn it in.

Never been screwed out of anything....

That's completely normal for a dealership. I recommend get set up on quickbooks, then you can hand them an invoice for every car, and print out a statement for the dates of services you've done, and hand it over. Very easy.

    thanks guys,

I think too that quick books will be the way to go.. honestly I dont have any invoices to use so I will have to start getting better prepared.

honestly, the other delearship I do work for writes me out a busiess check and I keep those in my filing system at home and pull them out when time for taxes.

    much love

You definitely need to get some invoices for them to sign off on so you have proof that you performed the work.

That's the way I do it and I've noticed I usually have a cheque 4 business days after invoice date.

Write down the Stock # of every car you do. The stock number is a assigned number the dealership gives each car. You can find this on the key chain or on the the front dash (glued to the windshield).

I would invoice them like this on quickbooks. The stock # appeared first for me.

    Sedan| L6542-1 2006 White Ford Fusion AWD Completed on August 15, 2010 | $50.00

That's how it would appear on quickbooks and the inventory manager had no issues at all whatsoever.

wow, you guys really good at this.. got more than I thought I would.

on a side note, I am still pursuing opening up a car wash using just the optima steamer along with vacuming out the interior and carpet extraction for the customers that are willing to pay out the price. found a spot in seattle that has 3600 square feet, use to be an exhaust specialist business, they are asking 25 dollars per square foot (yearly lease price).

just did a complete list of all the machines, chemicals and waxes as well as towels, porter cables and everything imaginable. I will also be offering aquapel to the customes at 10 dollars an application (per window) which will most likely be just on the front window. each capsule will cost me 1.15 each as long as I buy in bulk of 5,000. in the seattle area where rain is constant, this will sell like hot cakes as rain x aready does at the local car washes and does not last nearly as long.

    thanks guys
