My car got filthy driving through a construction site after the recent rain. I wanted to shoot a video comparing the 2 products (and now I want to do it when I get the Cquartz on) showing the difference in how they handle water. The ending was a bit of a surprise to me. This makes me want to try out my new Cquartz even more!!

I got to try my Cquartz tonight. It looks great and was easy to use. I'll be posting up pics and more details tomorrow.

Your car looks good either way. Beading is pretty neat to see but if you live in really hot areas i would imagine the sheeting effect would be better to help prevent water spots.

Thanks for the video Richy, the opticoat leaf blower results are very interesting. Looking forward to your notes on Cquartz I've been following the thread on that one too.

Now get some nanolex and C1 on that puppy and we can really see some comparisons!

No kidding, I'd love to, but I've blown my budget with these 2.

Thanks...and check out the CQ thread too.

If you're Canadian, board sponsor Eshine carries the Aquartz (and Cquartz) line. Mike at Auto Esthetica also sells it in the US (he's in New York I believe). The OC is not available to the public as of yet. You need to be a professional detailer (and prove it to them) to be able to buy it.

Which panel is CQuartz and which is Optcoat? All panels look the same to me :shead:

I had actually mentioned that at the beginning of the video, sorry if I did not make it clearer. To answer your question, the 2 doors were coated with OC (opti-coat) and the rear 1/4 panel as well as the front fenders and hood were done with AQ (aquartz).

Thanks Marcus. It was fun shooting it..first time I got to try uploading a film from my new iphone4 to youtube. It was easier than I thought it would be.

Two things spring to mind there Richy - different angles of the panels you're assessing products on, plus you mention the CQuartz needs to be dried with a cloth after using the leaf blower - that's the whole point of using forced air after rinsing, to save having to touch the vehicle.
Might be worth enlisting someone to hold the camera, as well as not having it zoomed in, or invest in a basic tripod to mount the camera on whilst you sheet and blow dry.

Thank you for the constructive criticism. That was the first time I had tried the leaf blower with it. I normally don't bother with it, I just use a ww. I wanted to use my iphone4 to shoot the video b/c it shoots in high def as well as it's my new toy and I wanted to play with it, hahaha. There is no way to mount the iphone on a tripod. Not a bad idea to have someone hold the camera though...I'll have to see if I can get a volunteer next time. I may try to do a follow up tomorrow if I can and shoot another one showing the rear panel where I applied Cquartz.

Hi everyone new here can anybody let me know how much Cquartz cost. Aquartz.net doesn't seem to sell it on their site at least I cant find it; is the product like Opti-coat where you have to be a professional detailer to get ahold of it? Also is there a video or a thread on how to apply it, I am using Blackfire Wet Diamond currently and Cquartz seems to be in its own category.

If you want it immediately, you can get it from Avi via Cyprus. You will pay in Euros and the shipping is expensive. I can PM you his email if you want it. Mike at autoesthetica.com will have pricing in a week and is going to run a great introductory sale on it. It is 30 Euros for 30 ml from Avi plus shipping. Do a search on youtube, there's a new video showing it being applied to a 3 series. It is as simple to apply as I have reported. You will love this product. It represents the future of paint protection if you ask me. Cquartz and Opti Coat and the Gtechniq C1 are in there own category...nothing else compares to them. Of the 3, I believe Cquartz has the strongest coat. It is reportedly stronger than Aquartz.

Will the pricing be up on autoesthetica.com because its currently under renovations or do I just call up Mike in a week at the number posted on the site? Also is 30ml enough for an entire vehicle it would be going on my black mustang gt and is that the size Mike will be selling as well. I did some research on youtube last night and found the video on how to apply it looks really simple. Can you top Cquartz with any carnauba? And lastly will IPA, Dawn, or the usual products remove it like an APC or citrus degreaser. Sorry for all the questions I am just really interested in the product. Thanks again

30ml should be slightly more than enough for your Stang, trim included. You could top it with wax although I don't think you'll want to after you see it. It has a really wet look to it. Also, if you top it, you are not allowing the product to do its thing. It will not get dirty as fast and the water repellency is wicked. You may defeat that by covering it since the top surface would be wax and not the coating. APC's will not remove it nor will Dawn. Compounding is the only way to remove it. Having said that, I would still observe good washing techniques to maximize its timeline. Hope that helped.

As far as pricing, contact Mike via email and he will get a hold of you as soon as it comes in. Forgot to mention that above.
