Whats the bare minimum to start a mobile car/truck detailing service (tools, materials ect)? I'm wanting to do that while I'm in school for auto body.
Whew! Plenty of pads MF towels Polisher or two Extension cords Lights Good Vacuum Polishes Various brushes cleaners for different areas maybe a good sealant and a good wax that are both easy to use buckets/mitts/gritguards and thats just the tip of the iceberg really.
and a car that can fit all your tools. you might need a generator and certain insurance or license too.
hit us up we can get you started with the bare essentials. I would say at a min $800 plus, I would say get smaller sizes first and see what you like etc. equipment will be your bigger expenses.
why is that? im not saying all there stuff is good but there is some stuff i like. interested to see why not
I just recommend getting small sizes first, that once you find out what you like get bigger sizes. Also I would try one type of product at a time, for instance buy one shampoo and don't buy another on till you finish the first one. Go to DD they got alot of great stuff Some stuff I would recommend apc-Optimum power clean Shampoo-optimum car wash Clay lube/quick detailer-Optimum no rinse Glass cleaner-Adams or prima both great Interior cleaner-cockpit premium Sealant-menzerna powerlock Tools Wash media-uber sponge Wax applicators- red or yellow both good Towels-I haven't tried dd yet so but I really like pakshak and theragdhack, but have heard good things about the uber all purpose, next order I'm planning on trying a few Brushes- get a good assortment of these very helpful from leather to wheels I am not sure if you want to start polishing maybe just focus on the cleaning process till you feel comfortable. Be carful though detailing gets expensive quick lol
I spend about 2.5k to 3.5k and I do feel like i need to spend more but i know its enough already. Buy good polishes like all the menzerna polishes because you will use all of them and they depend on the clear. Also get some lake country pads, you also need wool pads sometimes. Good tire cleaner is a bit pricey but good to use is p21s wheel cleaner gel and ez-detail brush to clean inside of the wheels. Dont forget to get a good sealant and good lightning to catch all the defects. Hope that helps. ooh and get a good rotary like makita 9227c and some good da-sometimes you need both, Ooh and also some different sizes backing plates and pads. like to use on trunk and big ones on hood, doors you know what i meant? maybe 1.5k would be good. dont forget paint thickness gauge-you will need it.:kilt::mounty: The real problem i had in begining is to use good microfiber towels, i use those from wall mart and they work great.
Have a look at the write up I did here. It'll break things down for you. Noobs tend to think they need way more than they do to get started. Keep it simple, offer AFFORDABLE packages in this economy to get the cash coming in and pick up the other equipment as you go.
+1 , ibefore i will get any material, equipment, i will put down a business plan , like who`s your customers , what area are you living and what they afford, whats the "strongest" type of detail you can do , what`s your marketing , have a website , what`s your investment , what`s your goal.... think all this before you start anything and will show you more detail that u may miss if you just jump in.
