I've never had a machine before, but I found some guy selling one, I'm wondering if its any good for a beginner and if the price is any good. LIKE NEW Porter Cable 7424XP, used twice and it's in like new condition. Comes with everything originally in the box. Stuff I am throwing in: 1. 5.5" backplate 2. 1 6.5" CCS Orange pad (used twice) 3. 1 6.5" CCS Grey finishing pad (used twice) For $140 CAD Mind you I'm in Canada, so Canadian prices apply.
Thats a good price as they retail for $169 up here and the backing plate and pads would set you back another $40. The only concern I would have is the 5.5" bp and 6.5" pads. I find that the 5.5" pads are a more comfortable fit for the PC but $140 for just the polisher, if new, is still a very good price. I say grab it! You're saving $50 over new including HST!
Thanks Ken for the quick reply, how much would some 5.5" pads run, and would I be able to use it with the 5.5" backplate? And how hard would the PC be to use for a newb that's never done it before?
That a GREAT machine. Thats even the new model. As long as it's in good shape it's a great price as far as I'm concerned. I couldn't even find a XP model here and they were retailing for about $229. Got one online instead. Also as long as you do some research ahead of time it's very user friendly machine.
