Good point Calgary, but the devil's advocate would say (me)

When ever extreme mark up is included, I think its normal to ask why. Most waxes, in a label, with a containor are going to range from 1.50 out the door to 5.00 out the door, product and manufactoring cost. Obviously if you make less of the product, you rates will increase, but not dramatically.

Given that the glass or crystal contaioners could possibly cost as much as 500 to 1000 dollars, you have an out the door cost of probably not any more then 1005 dollars. When you have a mark up of 28K for prestige and image, it is normal to question the whole thought process.

One person might say that they would buy a 335 over a G37, because its a bimmer has more prestige. Magazines debate which car is better, most say the 335 is slightly better, but the G37 is a better bang for the buck. However, at least with your car, people see you in it, driving around. With a 30K wax on your car, nobody (except you is going to know the difference) and when you tell people you spent 30k on a wax, the last thing people are going to think is that's presitgious. Most people are going to think, "A sucker is born every minute."

Not that any of this matters. The forumulations in waxes are so similar that pretty much a lot of what we use is the same. There is no magic, super expensive ingredient that makes Solaris so expensive, and given the precise way that companies blend their waxes, there is not really any manufacturing process that is going to make it better on that end. So we can discuss this all day, but the point is, if spending money on a 30K wax makes you feel good about it, then do it.

Western culture is a very money based, image based, materialistic society. Im sure we can both agree on that.
We buy tons of stuff to show we are higher up on the social scale. Even those who say they dont do. If you really did not care you would take the bus or carpool. you dont "need" a car but we all still have them.. it makes life easier, but we also assosiate with that we drive.

Im sure you get the question all the time, what do you drive?

We do the same thing with desginer clothes. I could make arguments about why they fir better and so on. However it comes down to image.

And with that image we are treated diffrently

A good example is when I was at a friends house. We were driking, my friends mother comes down (as loaded as we where) and starts talking to us.. we get the ussual what do your parents do. I told her my dad was a vp... she takes my plastic cup out of my hand and brings me a crytal glass... here husband goes.. wtf im not even aloud to look at those. the wife (mother) says wel he knows the finner things.....

First I am not rich, not yet anyway. I live a conforatble life, but with ky dads income and 4kids we are not tich... ok back on topic.

whats the point? image is everything. So wax is no diffrent. a $30K wax is about image. Heck even pauls new wax is about image, but thats what his customers want.

I can easily justify the 2k wax.. heck i have had it 3 months and it has gone back to be refilled. I might even be bale to justify 8K....
can I justify 30k for wax? nope but that dosent mean someone else can.

Its about image yes, we pay through the teeth for image (clothes, houses, cars, stylists, teeth witheing, ect ect ect) why is wax any diffrent?

I agree it dosnet cost all that much to make, but it does make the owner look "good"

I am sorry but, if I had 30g for paint improvement I think I would go out and get a $29,800 paint job which would look better with nothing on it than what any priced wax could do and then spend the remaining 200 bucks on my LSP. And I would be willing to bet my car would look better than anybody elses with the 30k wax, of course providing they did not spend 30k for their paint job on top of the wax.

how the hell is the owner of this product going to know how to precisely mix their own " special formula " for their specific vehicle? I would seriously hope that someone from Zymol takes a plane to the owners house and helps with the formulation. Otherwise , Id personaly fly to Conneticut and whip that little crystal pyramid right through the front window of the Zymol offices.

Turns out this thing has been on the "drawing board" for 2 or more years. They didn't know if the market would bear it, but it turns out it is right now. Right when it was released, 5 were sent to Singapore, and a few went to the UK as well. In Singapore, they only use the best of the best, nothing else.
