21 Stage washing

I've heard and read a lot about this can anyone tell me what all is involved in the method of washing a car

 

It's just a marketing tactic. You can make up as many stages as you'd like. Do a search on two-bucket wash and you'll get your answer.

i run through 5 stages alone in filling up my bucket with water

stage 1 - connect rubber insulated hydro formed hose wearing adequate glove protection to brass top shelf swirl minimizing tap fitting
stage 2 - connect nasa engineered evenly pressured trigger hose safe for delicate supercar paint to hose
stage 3 - place perfectly round bucket (to within 0.05% of true pie) with smooth plastic forming to minimize swirling of water molecules, within arms reach of the trigger hose
stage 4 - proceed to turn tap on by careful rotation in a clockwise manner, turning through the first revolution at approx 1s, then speeding up to 3s but no more than 4s per revolution
stage 5 - hold trigger hose at an angle of approximately 34.78 degrees to true north to ensure perfect stablisation of water in bucket while filling

1) look at paint
2) get a wash bucket
3) unwind water hose
4) pour wash solution into bucket
5) add water
6) throw your mits and brushes into bucket
7) rinse tires and wheels
8) spray APC onto wheels and tires
9) scrub wheels and tires with brush
10) rinse wheels and tires
11) spray doorjams with APC
12) clean jams with mitts and brushes
13) rinse jams
14) rinse bucket
15) pour solution into bucket for body wash
16) add water for suds
17) add wash mitts
18) rinse car
19) wash car starting at roof and work your way down
20) rinse car
21) dry car

i posted this because i hear some much about folk taking an hr to 2hr to wash a vehicle, and imy 1st thought was, what are they doing that i'm missing..when it only takes me and one other person maybe 25min to thoroughly clean a car..someone pls enlighten me

 

Takes me almost 2 hours for a proper wash/clay :meditation:

 

i need a good 2hrs to do a full wash on my black car - that includes the pre-wash with the foam gun, spending a fair bit of time cleaning out the sponge after each panel, and then drying incl. inside doors etc

 

In 4 1. How much? Any FS?

 

my onr wash

1. spray lower panels with ONR QD if car is mild dirty or whole car if its dark color or dirty
2. fill 2 buckets with 2 Grits in each with distill water
3. 2 oz onr in wash bucket, 1 oz in rinse bucket
4. uber sponge for top panels, LC blue for lower panels, sw brushes for badges etc
5. roof, glass, trunk, doors, fenders, hood, bumpers
6. onr QD as drying aid with DD ww towels

my detail wash

1. rinse car
2. fills buckets with distill water with 2 grit guards inside each bucket
3. 2 oz of Opt wash
4. boars hair brush , lambswool, sw brushes
5. roof, glass, trunk, doors, fenders hood, bumpers
6. clean all creavies, emblerms, etc
7. rinse with distill water
8. let the car dry on its own
9. pull inside to clay n so on

 

that's understandable, but just a wash i don't know..i own a Detail shop and if it took us that long to clean one car then, i hate to think about it...realy i just wanted to make sure that i was'nt missing something in cleaning my customers vehicles

 

you guys vs one guy is a different ball game.

 

I have very picky customers. Plus, I charge an hourly rate, not a per job rate :hmph:

I've been where you are. Pumping out 10+ cars a day is not what I'm about. Sometimes it takes me 2 days to finish 1 car :baby:

 

i know what you mean, and that is one of the reasons i'm hear so i can advance to where you are ..tired of the mediocre detail jobs and now wanticture: to learn to do the high end jobs, that's the only way i can be one of the best in the business

 

IMO: 2 hours is not un heard of for a full wash regardless of how many steps you want to classify it as.

 

hehe I have 175 stage wash - lots of footstep to get around cars!

 

1.5 - 2.0 hours to wash a car is normal.

 

I thought so too. He was mocking the idea that there is 21...get that 21, not 20 or 22, steps.
