Top Gear has lost some of its edge for me.... Before I get flamed like a person who says something flame-worthy let me preface that. I love TG because i love cars and I think the guys are funny but when it comes down to really excellent reviews of sports cars, I think Chris Harris and EVO magazine puts them in their place. It took his review of the 458 Italia vs. GT3 RS for me to realize how good automotive journalists can relay what they feel in driving a car to someone who has never driven that car. The thing is that TG in the UK is like American Idol here, a show more concerned with people instead of their actual vocal ability. They need to make a show which is not just for car guys and thats cool. Sometimes Jeremy (and I say this because James really doesnt give in depth reviews and Hammond get excited about any car he drives) can give an awesome truthful review but a lot of the time its fluff... making analogies left and right or making fun of silly things which really dont matter. In the end I kinda dont feel like they told me what I want to know about a car. Just my opinion, still a fan and I will still tune in to watch.
agree dsms, I do enjoy the show but it is mostly just entertainment. I love the way they play stupid so well (at least I think they are playing) Watched an old episode recently where they went caravan camping and commented that the car they used for pulling it was named the number 1 towing car recently. After a minute or so it hit me that the little car they were using to tow their caravan was number 1 for towing behind a camper, not for towing a camper.
Agreed, its not a down and dirty car review. So much humor, and randomness from them. Chris on the other hand! Wow, if I were interested in the cars he drove, Id take his recommendation and thoughts as the truth. Great guy and shows passion for the cars. Still a huge TG fan. BTW by new season is it the one that was in the UK now... thats not new. I watched it a while back.

wait a minute, I already seen all 6 episodes of Season 15... I like Top Gear because they make the show very entartaining, not for car review reasons...Also they can do something REALLY STUPID, and it makes the show even more entertaining...If you compare it to Fifth Gear, Top Gear is far more entertaining. I love their challenges. But to each their own, I guess... It's on BBC America. But I usually download it off the internet and watch it there...No commercials...
That ill agree with! especially hammond... even if you gave a Go-Cart you told him won some world racing cup, he'd become all giddy like a school girl lol, not to mention he'd fit in it with easy lol if you want a serious review, TG probably isnt going to do it for you. Now if you want a few guys acting stupid and having alot of fun with expensive cars, then id say definately watch it. ive loved the show from the begining and although they may not be critically accurate about the cars they drive explaining specs and drive experience, they are highly entertaining.
