My RX-7 was sideswiped in the middle of the night a few weeks ago. I have security footage of the incident and had my insurance take care of it. They reduced my deductible for the incident since it was a hit and run and not my fault. My insurance last week, wired the money directly to the body shop that is going to perform the work and i would pay the body shop the deductible upon pickup of the car. My problem is the cars paint is in immaculate condition for being 17years old, and im afraid that the body shop is not going to be able to match it with the rest of the car. What would i have to to with my insurance and body shop to have a guarantee that if the paint is not correctly matched or is not to my liking to have the entire car repainted? The car in question is a 1993 Mazda RX-7 and color is Vintage Red
First off Mazda RX7's especially the FD's are a all time favorite of mine. I can be very picky and when comes to something like that very argumentative because . . . . if the rest of the vehicle has the original 17 year old paint there is just no way that i can think of that they can match it. I mean some folks might be able to notice it if they know what to look for but you will have fresh paint in some areas of the vehicle and 17 year old paint in other areas. Let them paint it. The insurances job is to bring your vehicle back to the condition in which it was prior to the accident but when all said and done if it isn't done properly or to your liking you can try to take it up with the insurance company but you might also need to take it up with the body shop. When the a similar incident happened to me years ago and i argued back and fourth with the insurance adjuster because of the same reason that my car had the original paint and painting just a couple areas with fresh paint would make it look worse they just wound up cutting me a check and i found someone to do a full repaint on the vehicle and had a little left over to spare. That might be your best bet if you are worried about them doing it correctly.
i think that you would have to find a shop that guarantees customer satisfaction. thats what i did when my car got rear ended
paint matching is an art and most body shops are volume pushers. matching aged paint takes a true master. they are out there but i dont know of any insurance companies that would go for that. the above posts tell the story. try for a entire reshoot if possible. maybe grabber orange. ha ha good luck

hopefully this situations doesn't turn into a headache and in the end you get what is deserved. The retard who nailed your car needs to get whats coming to him to. Immature and irresponsible.
