I recently did my first full detail job on my 1999 Milano Red Honda Prelude that I recently purchased. The car was in immaculate condition afterwards. Well, yesterday came it's first wash. I used a Gilmour Foam Gun, CG Maxi Suds, and for a sponge I used a Detailed Image sheepskin mit. Now I'm not sure if it was the mit or the Absorber I used to the dry the car, but it left very fine scratches all over the paint again. So here are my questions. 1. Which products do you guys to wash/dry the car? (specifically sponges and drying towels) 2. Could it have been the sheepskin mit that left fine scratches behind? (My guess is it's the Absorber that did it) 3. How often is it safe to polish the car? (Once a season? Once every six months? Once a year?) Thank you Detailing Bliss!
Hondas have extemally soft clear coats for one thing. The mitt you used, I use the same so I don't think that is it (unless you had a tarball stuck in the mitt :giggle Are you going with the 2 bucket method using a grit gaurd? That absorber also could be your problem. If you continue to use it, lay it on the wet spots instead of dragging it across the paint :gasp: What products did you use for the correction? It may be that you just feeled in the scratches
Yeah I used the two bucket with grid guard also. I'm thinking of ordering a couple of waffle weave towels from DI now. I used Menz PO83 and PO106A, oustanding products. These little scratches are making me sad =(
I've never used either of those products, but have always heard positives coming from them. Yes, a quality MF drying cloth is in order for sure. You could always just do as I do and never even attempt to correct the paint on your own vehicle. Have you ever seen a dog chase its tail? This my freind will be you oke:
i would bet the absorber is the culprit....i used one for years ...after switching to mf's i will never go back
i have a leaf blower and use it regularly but dont feel safe using it after a vacume so it is one dimensional but cost effective
Glare Ultra wash, Driven Protective Wash Optimum No Rinse Drying towels - any that are not waffle weave. dont like them anymore. too stiff and scratchy blot dry only and do not use water to rinse. use my favourite QD's in power spray and then dry Best mitts are microfibre safe to abrasively polish the paint anytime. Id only do it once a year, I keep adding coats of glare sealant which in essence, does increase the gloss without cutting I limit my abrasive polishing to three times per vehicle with system one and 100% natural wool and light cut foam and down. never synthetic wool or heavy cut foams
