Project: nissan altima 2005 time: 20 hours Goal: to bring back life to the paint without making it perfect. Simple 2 step detail that has taken to a 3 step. This altima was shot. Period. Awesome work man! Great turn-around, I bet the owner was happy :applause: BTW, there's a couple duplicate pics in the write-up near the top if you wanna edit it.
Marc, fabulous job mate!! everything looks fantastic. How do you like working with the Makita? Let me know if you ever wanna try out the Flex rotary. Great write-up too. Also what camera are you using?
Very nice work Rennes :applause: I use those same foam paint brushes. I get mine at Dollar General :chips:
Thanks! I do too! Thanks Waseem, we should have a go at detailing togheter sometime. Camera used was a nikon D5000.
sweet. im looking to get the D5000 very soon. I'm waiting for my next credit card bill to come in and then BAM.
Awesome job. How did you find the paint responding to your middle step on the rotary? The test section you posted looks like a SIGNIFICANT difference
I'm working on adding steps I did for this. For the test panel: 1. yellow UBER pad with M105 @ 1500rpm with the makita. -grippy as hell, lubricate the pad a lot with water to stay moist without having product sligging everywhere. This was the hardest part of the detail really. Certain part required 2 passes (considering 1 pass was going over the area 3 times up and down) 2. green UBER with M205 @ 1500rpm to 1000rpm with the makita. -trying to finish it down without leaving too much hologram, this step had me doing it very slowly and steady. 3. blue UBER with P085RD @ 1200rpm with the makita. -smooth smooth ride along the paint, trying to get a high gloss.
Very nice. I have the same Highline II gauage, but my 09 Altima only reads an average of 110 mic. Since I bought the car new and only use 85rd for light polishing, I hope I don't lose too much clear. I bought the PTG as I was planning to wet sand the whole car because of the heavy OP, but now I decided it's to risky. Anyway, good job on that black paint.
Thanks P085RD, combine with a light polishing pad, won't remove much CC at all. I think I removed about 4 to 5 microns all around the car. Get a practice panel (Scrap yard) and buffing it out. You'll see that you will be much more conf
Great work Marc ... that was a great improvement!! Glad to see that you finally got your HL II meter!!
thanks Gi! I finally got it!!!! I'm going gunho now getting stuff shipped in the states. It's so easy!
Just saw this post today and all i can say is.. :applause: :worship2: That was superb. The owner would give you a nice tip for a job well done.. The car looks shiny and the exterior nissan altima parts look spic-and-span
