Got behind a moron in a tractor trailer today, stayed back my usual 4-5 car lengths, but still heard a PING. Thought it was off the windshield until I got home and found a nice chunk out of the top of my fender. Click thumbnail to make bigger. Anyway, my main PC is out of commission and this is on my phone so I can't search that great, can anyone find me a thread detailing how to effectively get rid of chips? I've never sanded anything on my car so I'm worried about that. I did find this thread, which seemed to have good results: Stone Chip Repair Guide - Detailing World Overall, how hard is it? The paint is just red, nothing metallic, but I am still wild about this. God I hate trucks, they should be confined to the right lane, there is absolutely no reason for them to ever pass anyone.
I've never polished or buffed with a tool before, would compound really work to remove the scratches just as well? Maybe I'll try on my other car first in case I screw it up more. Knowing my luck I'll scratch it and not be able to get rid of the scratches.
a PDR place damaged the paint on my G35 on the quarter panel driver side. he stripped the clearcoat and basecoat, but the primer is still there... should i touch this up with a brush or spray can? my last resort is to repaint the entire quarter...
