Last weekend I had the chance to put some Opti Seal on my Passat. I have never bothered with it as the reports on durability weren't so great. I applied one coat Friday after work. Followed the directions and put it on very thin. Only took about 15 minutes to coat the entire car. I was blown away by how good it looked the next am. Looked so good I put another coat on! Have a look.

does look good, and i know its hard to get a grey like that looking good

funny you should mention poor durability. My mate used it on his Z and was telling me only a few days he let the car go 4 weeks without a wash and the beading has died

I talked to one forum member and he said it would only be good for about a month. For as easy as it is to apply, I can live with that.

looks great, Ken! You windows however could use a DARKER tint, and you are missing a tint on front windows...hint hint...

I'm like you Ken and really stayed away from it due to reports of limited durability but then I tried some that a member traded to me and was blown away with the look and incredible ease of use. If you think Werkstat Acrylic Jett is easy this is easier in my opinion. Like you said if durability is only a month or so that's fine with as easy as it is to use. I've started doing my final wipedowns before delivery to the client with it. Oh and you use so little of it I wonder if I'll ever go through the whole bottle.

Illegal to tint the front 3 windows AT ALL here and nothing looks more stupid than driving around with light tint on the front and dark tint everywhere else.

I don't have any idea on durability, but this is my go to for wheels too (different app of course). I LOVE the fact that you do not have to buff off any residue.

I wonder if the durability issues are more because of improper coverage. 2 coats would probably be best, since this one you really don't see it being applied.

although it might sound stupid, I have ALL 3 of my cars with tinted front windows...I don't want them Limmo Black, but something with 40%-30% light tranperency gives you additional privacy...I hate these stupid laws!

The Passat looks killer Ken, but we all know that the real reason why it looks so good is because of your great prep work! I have yet to try Opti-seal but I might give it a try now that I have a car that is metallic and want to see how good I can get it.

Opti-Seal looks great on silver. In fact, doing the full trio (Poli-Seal, Opti-Seal, + Opt Car Wax) makes for a great-looking setup on silver, and provided you keep re-applying Optimum Car Wax, you should see many months of durability from Opti-Seal.

Opti-Seal is also an excellent glass sealant, and can be used on smooth and textured plastic trim. It will do nothing for the look of the trim, but it will provide protection against UV rays and such.

I thought opti-seal would have had better durability.

Still, its so easy to use. Glad I bought it from you Ken, its just makes life easier.

I bought some opti seal also and tried it out, it came out looking just like yours but as others have said, it didn't last. Looks great though.

I use this on wheels every so often, helps with the brake dust.

Hey Ken, how do you use this product? I just bought it and instruction say just spray some on panel and wipe. Did you use a microfiber towel?

I just sprayed it onto a wax applicator and applied as usual. I just found it easier to get it on thinner that way. :)
