The bug got me about 2 months after my initial purchase of the truck (2009 Xterra). Today I bit the bullet and bought 285/75R16 Nitto Terra Grapplers (33's) to give it a better look (upgrade from 31's). I have a feeling it's all downhill from here.

Here's the tires on someone else's Xterra

Can't wait to take delivery of them. Gas mileage will suffer a bit, but it's worth it. Can't wait!

    Nice.

I have the Daystar 2.5" lift kit on mine, this fall it is time for new tires and plan on going with a 285 or 33" haven't quite picked them out yet.

I did however just throw some 35% tint on the front windows, looks far better now. Picked it up off of Ebay as a Pre-cut for 20bux.

Nice X! Are you on thenewx.org? How much did it cost you to get the lift installed? I was thinking about doing a stiffer/longer AC spring and an Add a leaf in the back.

I am (RedXterra05) but haven't been there in awhile.

I went with the DayStar lift which is a spacer for the front struts, and a longer rear shackle. I really don't go off roading but I wanted a bit of a lift in the X and the Daystar was a cheap way of doing it that is also fairly common.

Picture doesn't match what the lift really is, and they are having a sale 20% OFF!

Install was pretty straight forward. Hardest part was splitting the ball joint for the front and then reconnecting it. Rear shackles I did without any trouble by hand, although I did have to use a come-a-long to pull out one of the stock shackles because of the exhaust... I did it in under 1.5hrs with regular hand tools and a BF hammer for the ball joint...

I was considering the AllDayFab kit when I was just going to do a shackle.

I did not know that, sweet. I love the Frontiers, they just hold their damn value too well. Going from a 31 to a 33, was it like night and day as far as aesthetics go?

    Those X's look good!!!

Since you're changing the overall diameter of the tires, do you guys have to reprogram the ECU or something to account for this change? I know we don't do this on cars because the change is marginal (within 3% hopefully) but your tires look a lot bigger than stockies!

I think it's like 3% difference between the two tires, or so I've heard. That white one isn't mine, but mine will look better.:thumb:

^^ I see... It doesn't seem to be only 3% diff.

your gonna love the terra graplers . i have them on my z71 tahoe 285 70 17 and they ride smooth very good in wet weather excellent in the dry and did surprisingly well in the snow. i have about 35k on my set and can get another 5k out of them i think. my only complaint is they did seem to increase in noise after about 20k but still not bad
