i just finished stripping my lsp and im about to apply my werkstatt prime . i did a zep wash and 2 cg cw washes and a ipa wipedown . How should i apply prime ? With a da or by hand ? How long do i let dry before wiping off ? Can i apply ajt right after ? Also how long b4 i can top with wax ? Anything else i should know ? I usually use ez creme but what step should i apply it? Im doing this right now so i really need answers asap .thanks
Why did you wait until now to ask? Seems notooswift. Why do an IPA wipedown after a carwash? You need to do a great deal more reading amigo. You are asking very basic questions..........AND IN A BIG HURRY!
Apply Prime, buff off when hazed (almost instant). Apply E-Z Creme immediately (if you want). BUff off E-Z Creme, then apply 1x AJT. Wait 1-24 hours for product to cure, and then apply another coat. You can apply Prime by hand or by DA. I think by DA you just spread it around, like Klasse AIO.
work in prime with a DA. work until drying. let set for 30 minutes, then buff. apply AJT about 30 minutes after that. wait 30 minutes and add a second coat of ajt. then youre done.
thanks guys i waited till now cuz iv asked most of these questions on here but didnt get a answer . i did a wash with zep and cg citrus at stripping dillution and then a ipa wipdown cuz i have 2 layers of 845 topped with mayhem im trying to strip .pita! .Am i gonna run into a problem letting prime sit for 30 min ? asking that cuz iv read other threads where people say to aplly it till it almost dry and then buff off a panel at a time or will be tough to remove . i figured id do it today cuz i have the time and its the first day thats not blazing hot out .
You don't have to let Prime sit. It can be applied a few different ways. 1. Apply, let haze and remove. Usually this will require the aid of a QD. 2. Apply to an area and wipe off while it is still moist. 3. Apply using a back and forth motion until it dries completely and remove residue.
When I applied Prime (Strong) I left it on the car for about 45 minutes with no ill effects. Remember to apply it as thin as possible though. More is not better. Maybe if you test it both ways...Apply to one panel and let it cure for about 15 minutes and then wipe it off. Apply to a second panel and wipe it off immediately. Whichever method is the easiest to remove and leaves the best shine is the winner.
Prime will get rid of the two layers of Collinite so you didn't have to put so much time and effort into stripping your existing paint protection.
wish i would have known that lol . oh well cant hurt . I tried it a few ways like you guys said . I found it easiest to apply with da and work it in a tiny bit so it went on very thin and even and was already hazing. Then i waited about 1-2 minutes and buffed off with a mf. came off easy . I did notice if it goes on even a little thick its a pain to remove and need qd for aid . It was a lot easier to get off when applying via da rather then applicator .I did 1 panel at a time .
Yeah I forgot to mention that. I don't know about Prime Regular but Prime Strong stripped off two layers of Blackfire two layers of Menzerna and two coats of Autoglym HD with no problem at all.
In the past I've topped it no more than an hour later. Leaving more time is recommended but I've never had any problems topping it sooner.
