As the title states, I am using Megs Tire Brush with the detachable handle. Should I only be applying little pressure? More cleaner in between brush and sidewall?

Even the black center bristles on that brush are pretty soft, I don't think they are scratching the sidewalls.

i have seen some side walls get scratched with some tire brushes. I think it's more so if the tire doesn't get cleaned well it appears as if the tire is scratched but it's really scratches left behind in the dirt giving off the scratched tire appearance.

Yea that's exactly what I was gonna say. If thin lines of dirt dry up in a certain pattern, it looks like scratches.
