Porsche Panamera new car prep detail

Some shots of the defects, nothing serious at all. Some light marring and fine holograms all over the car. Nothing a mild polish wont fix. Its kinda nice not to have to go "open heart surgery" on a black car this week

Figure 8 holograms on the finish, they look sweet :thumb:

Correction consisted of Powerfinish on a white pad at 1800rpm down to 1200 for finishing

Picking up defects was very difficult on this color, a quick before and after of clarity difference after correction

The "BP" spill landed on these tires also, even after heavy cleaning during the wash stage further cleaning was needed again to strip old dressing fully before new tire dressing was put on..

Looks nice David. Your thoughts on the car itself?

Great job! I saw one of these in the road today, its definitely not sexy as its 2 door cousin, but I think it will grow on me.

    great detail

from some angle it looks quite good, but porsche have made the same mistake on the panamera as they did on the first cayenne - they tried to simply design a larger 911

they learnt with the redesign of the cayenne, so you can assume they'll clean up the front and bumpers on this soon as well

the interior on the other hand is beautifully executed and quite unique in its high floating centre console. Material quality and detail is a massive leap over porsche's efforts on the cayenne. The new cayenne has borrowed alot from the panamera here, and you can bet the next 911 will benefit as well from this audi style interior detail

Very nice work, I think we need to rethink the term "hack" and change it to "artist" with the type of talent they have in well designed trails. I love that interior!

Great job. Guy in my office has one. Nice, but does not rave about it. Came from a 911 4S.

I actually had to pick up and deliver this car so I did get to spend some time driving it.

Initially I thought it was the greatest sedan ever simply because it didnt drive like an S class but on the return trip I realized it was just good, not great. First off the car never starts in 1st gear, your automatically started in 2nd which is a little sluggish and annoying. I'm sure there is a button or mode to correct this but its not my car so I didnt go changing settings.

I did switch to PDK just to get a feel and its very smooth but just feels out of place on a car that you wont be carving corners in, ever, does blip on the downshift which is nice. As for the interior it really is beautiful, well laid out with more buttons than a spaceship, that is the high point of the car, and the trunk is big enough for anything you would put in there, like you could honest fit 2-3 full sized bodies without a problem.

I actually like S550, love it's air suspension that "eliminates" all bumps! But to each their own, I guess...So, is this Porsche more of an Audi A8 on steroids? Maybe S8? Was the ride comfortable?

Dont get me wrong, I think the S class is just about the best sedan ever built, the new S550 (recently facelifted) is just bliss to drive, but by no means a sporty ride. The panny is definitely a firmer ride, again there may be softer settings I did not use and also the seats in this one, and i know there are 2 variants, were quite stiff compared to the plush Benz leather.

This is definitely more of a Maserati QP/S8 type of car and not a 750 or S Class. I wonder what the turbo is like to drive also... mmmmm

I see. Well, the turbo version will defenetely be more sportier, and probably will be firmer as well...
