I know its a really stupid question... But even with the flash off on my camera...still cant get a clear shot of swirl marks.... and vs versa with flash on....Any tips?
Most of the time the camera will focus on the reflection and not the paint itself. You can try putting something like tape or your finger on the paint so that the camera focuses on that instead. IF not get an SLR manual focusing makes swirl pictures MUCH easier.
lighting is key as well as angles. using a point and shoot is great for capturing defects in the paint. so what i now do is point and shoot before and slr after.
In most cases, you have to use the camera in manual to get the correct exposure. You need to be sure the lighting for the swirls is at the proper angle to make them appear. It takes practice and be sure to take a lot of pics to get a good one.
