Detailed one of the convertibles for a client for around 8 years. Man that thing was solid. You could build 4 new cars out of all the steel in those things.

These are instant classics. I was looking at cars.com to see if there was anything good out there, and there are TONS of good ones available for short money. Man of them with low miles, too... These things are like TANKS. Just never get your foot or arm stuck in between the door.

IMO... that's the last decade where MB's were MB's..... design wise at least.... and I'm referring to the 1990's..

Interesting that you post this since I was looking at listings for those just yesterday. This would certainly make a great weekend car!

I love that older (90's) S-class Mercedes Benz...was even thinknig of buying one 7 years or so ago...very solid car, love that air suspension, was kinda slow though (I think it was S420L), compared to my 2000 Acura TL...

Love those cars! Agree with the above though...last few years that MB was really MB. Really feel that MB is outdated now...looks are generic, nothing fancy, overpriced. I would totally buy an old one if I could afford it :p

Great cars when they are running, but problems, problems, problems. The air suspension fails, the automatic rear-view mirror fails, the radio dies, the top breaks, etc. etc. Basically everything just dies and it's tons of money to keep them running healthy.

We had a'98 SL500 that we sold last year to Ketil (Scandic Shine owner in Norway) and the car was 100% flawless. Never a damn problem with that car, extremely impressive.

SL600 and SL500 are totally different beasts.

I loved MB's (notice the past tense). My uncle has a '64 that I thought was really cool compared to the Fords the rest of the family drove. All that changed when I bought one. Worst Car I ever owned - 2003 c320. Beautiful car and loved the perfomance but it was in the shop 8 times in the 8 months I owned it. The first morning I got in it after I bought it, the auto transmission shifter came out of the console in my hand.

Still, these are pretty cool looking - Mercedes SLS Gullwing new renderings & technical data | Motorward

MB's are still hawt in Hong Kong :D

I remember driving one of these when I was 16, boy that thing would *feel* like it would go. The problem is that it never really felt like a sports car, which it probably was never meant to be. The ride in these is great, but they were/are show for how much displacement they had/power they made. I've seen one in gold foil before, and boy was that nasty! That said my dad still wants an SL500.
