Today a great detailer/good, Dave aka weekendwarrior, invited me to come down and practice wetsanding and using a rotary. Test subject was his 73 VW Bug that was repainted and clearcoated. It was fun hanginout and learning how to wetsand and then finish it down with rotary and pc. Just wanted to let everyone in on my excitement for the day
That's awesome. Wetsanding is one of my favorite things to do, it's very rewarding. What grit papers were you using, and why did you sand it? Pics?
You're in my neck of the woods. If you would like to watch sometime, I do full wetsands pretty often. John
His car was repainted and has orange peel, we did not take any pics as this was just for me to lern. He did not care if I burned the paint because he can get it painted free. We used Meg Uni Grit 1500 and 2000 grit, followed with Meg solo aggressive wool pad with Meg 95, then SIP and a foam fad with rotary. Some areas we experimented with PC and Surbuf pads. Once again this was not ment to fully correct the car just him helping me by using his car as my guinea pig.
Edmonds is quite a ways from the border. It's like 20ish miles from downtown Seattle I think. We could turn it into a small GTG?
Had to keep mentally reminding myself this is not a PC. I like it, I really needed to finally get over my fear of it and learn. We did not use the Flex this time but I have used it a few times detailing other cars with Dave. I do like the new PC
I could maybe pick Ty up as well but then I'd have to spend a couple hours with him and he'd drink all the beer on the way there! Let me know when you guys wanna do it as I'd love to come down.
