Hi Guys, It's time for me to purchase a set of product sprayers for my APC, window cleaner, Distilled water, instant detailer etc... I was just going to make a trip to home depot and buy half a dozen sprayer bottles they keep in their cleaner's section...next to their zep products I was also going to pick up one of the 1/2 gallon pumps that can be pressurized and sprayed (I guess most places call them atomizers) for use with the APC to help with the wheel wells and striping LSP. does anybody have any experience with these generic product sprayers? are they chemically resistant enough for detailing chemicals? any experiences good or bad? Even a comment "they should work, but I love sprayers from XXX, just the right size and comfortable!" I'm going to be doing this everyday and spending another couple bucks to have a quality tool for this kind of thing is not an issue for me, but the convenience of going to HD is nice, as I would be able to keep all my sprayers the same (and look professional) if I needed an additional one in a pinch. Thanks! Steve
I've been using cheap ones from the dollar store for $1.25 a pop for years now, never had an issue. The nice thing is the fact that if they break, just throw it out and grab another, very convenient. I get them in a 1 liter size with a clear bottle and white sprayer. The bottles are even graduated every 50ml which is really nice.
At my local Home Depot they have 2 kinds of sprayer. I've tried them both. the Zep sprayer: and the Spraymaster: The zep ones are more comfortable in my hand as the sprayer has a smooth part that touches the part between ur thumb and index finger. THe spraymaster is not and can dig into ur skin. I do like the spraymaster because I have many kinds of APC I use with different dilution and some say are pretty strong like CG Grime Reaper. And spraymaster says that they are absolutely chemical safe so its nice to know. Other than that I think they're the same despite their price, $4 for the Zep, $6 for the Spraymaster.
thanks guys. love this forum! strawberry, have you found any issues with APC degrading the zep sprayers? I like the sounds of a comfortable handle.
At my local HD they have HD brand sprayers that are only 0.99 each! I wouldn't put any strong chemicals in them, but for glass cleaner, APC, ONR lube, and QD they work awesome! I also use the spraymaster from the previous post, but only for degreaser and some wheel cleaners since they are so pricey.
I have two of the Zep spray bottles and have been very happy with them. They seem to be a high volume spray so be aware you might end up using alot more product. I have yet to get a spray master from them for my Megs WB, probably this weekend though.
You should still rinse out the sprayers after every use. I've had plenty of "chemical-resistant" sprayers go after letting APC or something sit in them for a couple days. For lighter stuff like ONR, QD, etc, you'll be fine with whatever. It's basically the harsher cleaners that break them like APC, wheel acid, etc.
I didnt even try APCs or anything too strong with the Zep bottles but honestly, I dont see any problem with it when Zep themselves use their degreaser with the bottles right? I think the Spraymaster is somewhat overhyped, overpriced.
I've got about 6 of the Zep sprayers lined up. I have had them a few years. No leakage whatsoever, no issues whatsoever. They have Zep Citrus, Zep purple, Zep glass, Tarminator, and 3 different types of carpet cleaner. No issues with them; they're great.
I knew you guys would come through for me. I shall reward you all with some pictures of freshly detailed cars
I was at Wal-Mart and picked up some for $0.50 each...they work well and if they do break...they were only $0.50.
I use the ZEP sprayer, but I also have a sprayer I bought in the Garden section, it was 14 bucks, its big, you pump it a few times and it sprays by a trigger, the stream lasts long to.
