How much M/F towels do you need!?

    luke093 Welcome to Detailing

    Currently I have:

    12x Good polish removal towels
    14x Crappy interior towels
48x Woven towels (disposable, but work great for grunge work)
    10x QD towels
    6x Wax removal towels
    2x polishing clothes (metal polishing)
    6x Drying towels (3 20x40 WW, 3 Window towels)

I allocate really plush towels to QD, medium plush to wax, and low nap to polishing.

My question is: Do I need more? and how much towels do you use when detailing a car?

I'll post pictures when I get back from my trip to IL- im from Canada ;) Looking to get some AG HD too

I think you need just enough to get you through a full detail. It would suck to run low during a detail and not have the right towel. Another way to go would be to have enough for two full details so you are not constantly doing laundry if you are a frequent detailer. It looks like you have a good assortment.

I always end up using the same batch. I have many different ones, but most sit unused in a plastic bin. I always reach for my CG Fluffers or the Ultra Premiums for my nice work. The rest of the towels are the orange ones from Target that I use for the dirty work.

For my waffle weaves, I'm hooked on the new Tropi-Care ones. Really top notch!

The Vroom towels are a really nice work towel imo.

i find myself using the same batch as well while the rest sit. I run Pakshak towels. Top notch towels and have lasted me a very long time. I never dry my towels . . . . they get washed and every so often i use the microfiber detergent and they become super soft like they just rolled out of the factory LoL.

I have a couple hundred of assorted towels, that way when I'm done with a detail I don't have to wash everything right a way.
To me they are relativley cheap.

haha, I am the same way. Have around 130+ MFs and of those almost 30ish are new and never used to act as replacements.

I have MFs for every task, such as:

    QD: 6x
    Nuba QD: 6x
    ONR: 6x
    Sealant: 4x
    Nuba: 4x
Final Wipe (sealant or nuba): 2x
Polishing (all steps but finishing) 10x
    Finish polishing: 6x
    IPA Wipedown : 5x
    Pre-Wax Cleaner: 4x
    Glass: 10x
    Trim: 15x
    Wheels: 5x

    Vinyl (interior): 10x
    Rubber (interior):5x
    Leather (cotton) 10x

So yeah I have a bit of a issue with only using certain MF for certain things but seems to help keep them in new condition longer and prevents cross contamination.

I need to start doing that, seems to be a good sound way of using your mf.

    I don't keep mine that fine-tuned lol.

    My categories are:

    Polish/QD
    Wax/Sealant
    Glass
    Drying
    Interior
    Interior workhorse
    Exterior workhorse

I do have some super plush towels that are only for QD'ing/final buff.
