Question for the experts.... Getting into detailing purely as a hobby - I enjoy driving my car, doing very basic maintenance, and caring for it. Detailing is therapuetic to me for some reason, and I really enjoy a clean car. I've started experimenting with some high end waxes (not ultra high end) like SN , other DoDo, and concorso. I am getting an itch to try Zymol as well...have already done the Zaino thing and in a carnauba stage now. So my question is whether or not a color like phoenix yellow (metallic yellow) is going to allow the high end stuff (mystery, crystal rock, destiny, atlantique, vintage) to really show out. A deep blue (Le Mans, Interlagos in BMW's), Imola Red, or Jet (non-metalic) Black may be much better at showing the true power of these waxes/glazes. This is not a thread about whether high end waxes are worth it. This is about whether Phoenix Yellow will be a good vehicle on which to enjoy these waxes - my concern is that it isn't a naturally deep color and, like silver, may not allow one to appreciate these waxes/glazes as much as other colors may allow one to appreciate these waxes/glazes. I'd try something like Glacier from SV.... it's supposed to be for white, and I hear it really makes white POP, I imagine it would do the same for yellow.... really in the end the difference will be minute...
i think you'll be able to tell the differences on your car but it will be tougher than blue or black id look at the waxes that provide a silvery bling versus a darkening effect
the most important and influential aspect of enhancing your cars finish, no matter what color, is how you prep the paint. IE, properly correcting and jeweling the finish. if you do that well enough, in my opinion, you could put turtle wax on the car and it would still look amazing.
Phoenix yellow is a green/yellow mettalic color. I would be looking at something to give the metallic more pop.
What do you think fits the bill best here? I have SN, Oreange Crush, Banana Armour, P21s concours, and concorso, and am open to buying something else to try out as well. From earching it seems the P21s and concorso get the most mention out of the ones I have. I will play with all of the ones I have but curious to know what either of you would choose.
Not really the advice you're after, but I feel almost compelled to mention something. I went on a bit of a wax-purchasing binge last year (nothing like some folks on here, but still a lot IMO). Just off the top of my head, I now have RBOE, RBJE, SN, Glasur, migliore, Pete's 53, PB Red, Lusso Oro, Colli 845, 476s, & 915, NXT 2.0, and a few others I'm sure I'm forgetting right now; most of that list is new or like-new in quantity, sitting on a shelf. Not even counting sealants; got a few of those too. A LOT of these waxes fall into the "a little goes a long way" category. I could wash and wax my cars, and those of all my friends/family, on a weekly basis and still not run out of wax for years. Which got me thinking of what else I could've had instead, for those dollars spent - and in hindsight, I do have a little (just a little ) regret. :doh: In just those 5 waxes (very nice waxes, BTW) you already own, they'll last you a very long time, even if using them frequently. So, before just adding another three-to-four-figure wax... you might pause and at least consider enjoying the most from the ones you have now - then get your wallet out when they're gone or almost gone. JMHO of course, and YMMV. :thumb:
Not alot of waxes are going to look good on that colour because of the amount of metallic. Some that may look nice are Blackfire Midnight Sun, Victoria Wax Chaos and P21S Concours. Most Nubas will actually mute the metallic.
