Hey, my uncles asked me to revive his Camaro, that he had shot about 2 years back. The guy screwed him over and didn't shoot any clear, so the paint has faded and oxidized quite a bit. I went over there today and checked it out, it's quite faded. I took some stuff I had laying around, Meguiars Rubbing compound on the PC 7242XP foam finishing pad(I just got the machine, and didn't want to ruin any other pads, so I took a chance with that pad). It brought the red up to a pretty good finish, nothing amazing, but significantly better. Will 205 do anything? I'm not sure the difference between the rubbing compound and 205, I figured 105 would remove too much. The pad turned a little red after about 4 passes, so I'm pretty worried about taking too much paint off. Also, theres some white splashup from the road lines, and they can't seem to get it off via washing, what would be good to take this off? Thanks guys.
Zaino Z3 works perfect it is made for single stage paint. this is a 1989 Toyota MR2 that i did last summer after he went to 3 other detail shops. for pics go to a1automotivedetaing.webs.com
Dide he screw the guy over and not clear over a paint meant for 2 stage? Or is it an actual single stage paint? There is a difference.
Wow . Dont touch it with anything . i doubt you mean single stage cuz the clear and base are together . I would prep solvent the whole car then red scuff pad or 600wet the whole car . Then respray the base coat and clear it . Without doing that you will run into major problems guaranteed . Remember even flat paintjobs have a flat clearcoat on it . Anyway theres no way to fix without a full respray . You may want to even go past the base cuz there might be trapped contamination .
