Guy is going on vacation for a week, so I have until Tuesday to get it finished. As you will see, I will need all that time to complete it. At least 2 steps (damn hard clear coat). I knew I had my work cut out for me when I could see this through all the grime still on the car (I instructed the owner not to wash it beforehand): After wash/clay. Those with weak stomachs may want to skip this part: Nice buffing job before, eh? I tried Power Finish with Uber green with almost nothing taken out. Stepped up to SIP/yellow. Still left a lot of defects. Then I tried SIP on 3M white wool. Test spot: After one hit: After 2 passes: Never mind the terrible holograms. I don't worry about finishing down when compounding. I try to just get in and get out, and worry about cleaning it up with the next pass, which will be power finish on lc white. After this, I became engrossed in correcting the paint. I did not stop to take pictures. I felt time was working against me, so I just did what needed to be done. After the wool step, I use a combo of SIP and 85rd on uber green pad to finish. Here are some pictures when I pulled the car out to check my work: Then I pulled the car back in, corrected a few holograms, and started on the LSP. 1 coat of EZ creme glaze 1 coat of Blackfire Sealant 1 coat of Supernatural: These pics I got the same night. just before my camera battery died. Super pissed about that , because it was a nice sunset: Then the camera battery died, Owner came by my work today to give me the payment, and so I could take a few more pics. Enjoy I know Ken, wetsanding would take care of this : here you can see the owner smiling: Thanks for looking!
So what's the gameplan then for finishing down? Are you going to use EZ Creme on a blue pad or something?
Power finish on LC white cleans it up nicely. If there's time, I will 85rd/3m UK blue to really jewel it nice. I really hope there's time for that. It's my favorite step. Then for Glaze/LSP it will be: EZ Creme Blackfire AFPP Supernatural or Austintacious. That reminds me. Your stuff will ship out today. I have been super swamped at work.
No problemo. I haven't been home anyways. I *think* EZ might give you a little bit of a finishing cut, but I can't tell with CG marketing lingo.
damn that thing is knackered. looks like you got a solid game plan. cant wait to see the finished results.
dang that impala is tore up from the floor up man. SIP on a white wool pad did a number on that paint though. Looks like you are on your way to a very successful correction. Can't wait to see the finished shots. Excellent job thus far.
That's what happens when you visit a car wash where they hand dry your vehicle at the end of the tunnel. Some stuff on there is DEEP. If it doesn't come out in 2 passes with SIP/wool, I'm not going to take it out. I'm not getting paid that much.
Nice job on that Impala! It's as tore up as our Obsidian Black '99 E300. Now that it's getting warmer, I think I may have to finally tackle it and post a massive write-up!
that is some nasty stuff your dealing with, but the after looks promising! Cant wait to see the rest of the write up
That will definitely be a challenge but the results will be well worth the effort. Looking good so far!
